xkonk's slab sale19461

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
I'm going to list a few slabs for sale. I have a friend with dibs on some others, but I imagine I'll have more to post within the week or so.

Sales terms: shipping is at-cost unless you spend more than $150, then I'll cover it for free. I use USPS Priority. Payment via Paypal G&S, or you can send me a message if that won't work for some reason. Returns within 7 days of receipt. Feel free to ask if you need a reference; I've bought, sold, or traded with a number of forum members.

Uncanny X-Men 4, first appearance of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, in 6.0. *Note this book has conservation work*. That makes it hard to price, but I'm asking $2000.

@xkonk

Not too hard to price, FMV would depend mostly upon the location of the small tear.

If it’s anywhere but the spine or staples, let’s say it is a one inch tear on the middle of the the right edge of the cover or any part of the edges on the cover.

If you were to literally pull the sealed tear apart with your fingers, and you have a one inch tear , figure it would get a 5.5 Universal label from CGC with no conservation notes on the label or the same grade from CBCS.

It may very well be smaller and it could retain the 6.0 grade if cracked open, and the sealed tear is ripped (gently pried) apart.

Did you see the sealed tear when you subbed it (if you subbed it)?

If not, it should be visible if you look closely at the book under sunlight.

The only way a small sealed tear would have more considerable impact on the grade, is if undoing the tear would have impact on the structural integrity of the book.

Such a tear would have to be on a staple area ( sealing a popped staple) and unsealing the tear leaves the book with the cover detached at one of the staples.

Of less impact would be a small sealed spine split, as the spine is key in structural integrity of the book- not as much so as the staples.

I’d price it at 5.5 GPA average if it is a small sealed edge tear, or a 5.0 if it’s a small sealed tear in say the center of the cover but it’s more likely located on an edge area of the cover.

If you want to post up GPA on the book, that would be helpful, if you want pricing advice.

No idea what a universal goes for, I haven’t renewed GPA in months.

@ComicHoarder appreciate the advice. I don't have a GPA subscription either so I use a mix of mycomicshop listings, gocollect, eBay sold prices, what I paid for it, and how I feel that day.

I renew GPA whenever I get slabs I’m unsure of, it’s worth the 11 bucks.

Hell, at least only take payment for this slab via Zelle, check or money order , at this price.

I thought GPA was only for CGC graded slabs. Did I miss something on their website? 🤔

@Galen130 GPA is only CGC sales but the supposed value disparity should be ignored.

There is a value disparity between CGC and CBCS books in the same grade, on average.

And it would be foolish to ignore that.

While GPA only lists CGC slabs, it is a just one part of coming up with FMV on both CGC and CBCS slabs.

Sure, go collect records both CGC and CBCS slabs but they only go back a couple years, to start with.

And there isn’t nearly as many CBCS graded copies of c/y/x book to draw out much data from as there are the same book graded by CGC.

For the most part- and certainly with this book.

How many X Men 4’s graded by CGC and CBCS are on eBay now and how many have sold in the past 60 days, to start with?

That said, the OP hasnt posted up details on the small tear seal- where it’s located is a key part in determining what to price this book at.

If it’s on a staple, as I painstakingly detailed above, that would hurt FMV much more than just a small edge tear, which should only drop the price (grade) by half a point.

If I were the OP, I would take a good look at the slab in daylight to find out where the sealed tear is located.

Even if it is on the spine , and accounting for the price discrepancy between CGC and CBCS graded X Men 4’s, $1600 is still too low. Especially if it is not a check/money order or Zelle transaction.
