What's your favourite superhero team?19400

I like bean sprouts. James42 private msg quote post Address this user
The "what would you settle for if you can't get your grail?" thread got me thinking about what I collect, and why. It brought to the forefront something I already knew; my favourite superhero books are team books, and my favourite team is Excalibur.

I just got this book in the mail yesterday:

With it in hand, I now have all but two issues of the multiple series that I accept as being Excalibur. I am missing two issues of the 2001 series, and the 2004 series isn't Excalibur (even if that's what it was called).

I have the complete original run, including specials. I have New Excalibur, Captain Britain and MI:13, X-Men: Die by the Sword, the Betsy Braddock Excalibur, Knights of X, and the new Captain Britain series. Now I am beginning to collect Excalibur appearances in other books. I really need CBCS to get magazine grading going so I can get my Captain Britain #1 graded. And I love production art; I have a piece from both the original series and New Excalibur.

So what team do you love?

The Fantastic Four. Got in early on the John Byrne run in the 80s and they just always seem to hit the right notes. Hopefully seeing them done right on the big screen will be amazing.

Can't decide between:
Batman and The Beatles
Superman and the Nesquik Bunny
Superman and Muhammad Ali
Punisher and Eminem

Probably pre-2000s JLA

Same - except I think the series was at its best once Magma, Magik, Cypher and Warlock joined.

Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes was probably my first favorite team, back in the Mike Grell/ Jim Shooter days of the 1970s. I discovered X-Men in 1980, which became an obsessive favorite that started me collecting back issue comics. New Mutants dethroned X-Men when it came out. I have also always been a big Avengers fan. Also loved the Defenders for their quirkiness, and also the WW2 types like the Invaders and All-Star Squadron. If I had to name a favorite today I would probably go with the Justice Society of America, the original and still the greatest!

Fantastic Four. One of the very first “hero” comics I read as a kid.

power rangers (huge nerd). but I always liked Uncanny Avengers. simply because it gave guys you never expected to an avenger...a spot. I mean two of my favorite marvel characters Rogue and Deadpool were members.

I liked it was essentially avengers merged with x-men as whole point was it had both human and mutants (and later inhumans)

For me, the Fantastic Four. They were really the only super hero comic that I read as a kid in the 70s (along with lots of Archie, Richie Rich and Dell and Gold Key funny animals). I loved how Mr. Fantastic could stretch, I loved how the Human Torch and the Thing were always giving each other a hard time and I loved - and still love - Doctor Doom.

I still love them which is why I'm slowly putting together a run of issues 1-100. Long way to go though.

Oddly enough it was probably The Watchman, short lived (and based on Charlton characters) as they were. Hope Blue Beetle gets Captain Atom, The Question and a few more some legs. Thought Peacemaker showed it can be done.

No love for poor Susan Storm? It’s like she’s invisible.

AVENGERS! Always were, always will be. LONG before the MCU was a thing. I was buying them off the rack starting around issue #160 or so. So many Marvel stars all in one mag! Great art and stories...then I discovered Back Issues! You can buy old comics? Crazy. That's the first run I tried to finish.

Ultron is such a great arch-villain. Much better in the books than the film.

Strange the android Vision was always locked up in some existential drama. He became my favorite.

Me too. FF all the way. 70's FF's were awesome. One of my first comics to read. With Captain Marvel and some Conan's too....

FF # 178 is still one of my favorite covers ever fighting the Frightful Four...

Not sure anymore but New Teen Titans were my jam when I was a kid.
Just liked heroes about my age - my love of NTT inspired me to get almost all the Teen Titans appearances until from BB54 to the mid 80's series

Rick Remender’s Uncanny X-Force.

He pushed the idea of X-Force being the wetworks arm of the X-men. Runs since, IMO, haven’t been able to maintain the level Remender set
