Actually more of a loss, The 360k you have to remove the buyers premium then you remove the sellers premium to go to the auction house and you get what's left.

This might explain why the price dropped.

Now consider that this book held up extremely well (only about 20% decline).

Only about half the decline (if that) of all the AF15 and IH181 books sold during that era vs now.

Of course to the buyer/flipper it is worse than it seems because of all the transaction costs (taxes on purchase, BP on sale).

@Davethebrave as someone far more experience than I am, do you get better prices trying to sell these higher priced books at conventions or is heritage auctions really the way to go when it comes to 5 or 6-figure books?

I don’t sell anything. So I have no experience.

For a book like this auction format likely yields maximum price, sadly.

@Davethebrave. I ask because all the convention should I go to they all say, “paying top prices! highest prices for your books!”

That got me wondering.

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
@multi007 the folks set up at conventions are dealers, and they won't pay top dollar because their job is resale. They are going to sell at market value so they can't possibly pay market value. They may pay top dollar for shops, but you would only know if you got offers from a bunch of places. Auction houses make their money from buyers and/or sellers fees, so the books themselves sell at whatever a collector is willing to pay at the moment. If the seller fees are less than the reseller profit, which they usually are, auctions get you more money.
