Okay, here comes a sizeable batch of one-shot comics while I was collecting the 1st series of Batman.

Batman: Arkham Asylum-Tales of Madness (direct). This one-shot story is Cataclysm, Part 16.

MN-, or better. The back cover shows a very light ink transfer or soiling near the top staple. A clean should get this one into NM territory, or higher.

Batman: Bane [nn] (direct). This is a one-shot issue, with a cover that shares an image with the following books; Batman: Batgirl, Batman: Mr. Freeze, and Batman: Poison Ivy.

Unfortunately, I don't have all four...Batman: Poison Ivy was sold awhile ago. I'm listing the other three separately.

VF-, maybe better. The back cover shows small tears near the spine corners...mainly surface tears. These, and other defects, may not get this one higher than a 7.5

Batman: Batgirl [nn] (direct). This is a one-shot issue, with a cover that shares an image with the following books; Batman: Bane, Batman: Mr. Freeze, and Batman: Poison Ivy.

VF, or better. There is light blunting of the spine corners, as well as some light wear near them (edge crease near top one). A few other defects added to the previous keep the grade down on this comic.

Batman: Mr. Freeze [nn] (direct). This is a one-shot issue, with a cover that shares an image with the following books; Batman: Bane, Batman: Batgirl, and Batman: Poison Ivy.

VF+, or better. The biggest defect is that the spine binding on the back cover shows very light creasing and ink breakage.

In case anyone missed it, I updated the 'Bane' book listing on the previous page...I no longer have the Poison Ivy book to complete the 4-book cover image.

Batman: Batgirl #1 (direct). This issue is a one-shot story, featuring Batgirl and Zsasz.

VF-, or better. I'm dinging the grade on this one because the front cover shows 3 spots of either very light stains or fingerprints. They are hard to see, but a cleaning could help...maybe.

Batman & Robin: The Official Comic Adaptation of the Warner Bros. Motion Picture. This is a one-shot issue.

VF/NM, or better. A press may help here, but the corners are mildly blunted. It's a thick comic.

Batman Forever: The Official Comic Adaptation of the Warner Bros. Motion Picture (direct). This copy is the Mando Edition…meaning the type of paper the comic was printed on, which is of a higher quality.

VF, or better. The spine shows light where, and while the comic lays flat, it shows misalignment uniformly…stapled in the wrong locations. This is a production flaw.

Batman Forever: The Official Comic Adaptation of the Warner Bros. Motion Picture [nn]. This prestige edition was produced on glossy paper, with a cardstock cover.

VF, or better. The bottom spine corner shows mild drop damage, which does break the ink at the spine on the back. The front cover shows a mild indentation that barely breaks ink near the spine, close to the letter ‘F’.

Batman/Green Arrow: The Poison Tomorrow [nn]. This is a one-shot issue, with a Michael Netzer painted, wrap-around cover. Batman and Green Arrow battle Poison Ivy.

VF+, or better. There is light blunting of the spine corners (especially the bottom one). The back cover shows a very light bend near the top left corner that doesn’t crease or break the ink. Both spine bindings show light creasing, with only a couple spots that very lightly break the ink.

Batman/Houdini: The Devil’s Workshop [nn]. This is a one-shot Elseworlds story that won the Compuserve Comics and Animation Forums Award for Best Graphic Novel in 1993.

VF-, or better. There is light blunting of the spine corners, along with some very light edge bends/wear near those corners. The spine bindings show light creasing and ink breakage from being read.

Batman/Judge Dredd: Judgement on Gotham [nn]. This 1st print, one-shot comic won the UK Comic Art Award for Best Original Graphic Novel/One-shot in 1992.

VF+, give or take. The back cover shows residual tape residue near the top edge, which isn’t sticky and can't be felt. I don’t know if this will clean off. Another possibility is that when the tape was removed, it took some of the paper gloss with it. I purchased it like this.

I wasn't quite sure how to estimate a grade for this comic because of the 'tape' defect on the back. It might grade lower...hard to say.

Batman/Judge Dredd: The Ultimate Riddle [nn]. This is a one-shot story, featuring an appearance by Riddler.

VF-, maybe better. There is light blunting on the spine corners, especially the bottom corner…which also shows a tear in the paper along the spine. The front cover near that same corner shows a sizeable bend crease that barely breaks the ink. This corner was bent at one point, causing the previously mentioned issues. A press may help a bit, but the tear keeps the grade down.

Batman/Judge Dredd: Vendetta in Gotham [nn]. This is a one-shot story with appearances by Scarface and Ventriloquist. The comic won the UK Comic Art Award for Best Original Graphic Novel/One-shot in 1994.

VF, or better. There is light blunting of the spine corners (especially the nearby edges). The spine binding on the back cover shows light ink breakage in a couple spots. There is also light scuffing on the page edge of the back cover, along the top half.

Batman/Punisher: Lake of Fire [nn]. This is a one-shot issue, and is dedicated to the memory of Ross Andru.

VF-, or better. The entire upper right corner of the book shows a mild bend that translates through the whole comic. The back cover on the same corner shows a separate, larger bend crease that has very lightly broken the ink. The back cover also shows light ink breakage in spots along the spine binding.

Batman/Riddler: The Riddle Factory [nn]. This issue is a one-shot story, and the cover is half of a complete image with Batman/Two-Face: Crime and Punishment one-shot comic.

VF, or better. All defects can be seen in the scans. I don't think a press will improve the grade much.

Batman/Spawn: War Devil [nn] (direct). This is a one-shot story, which has a companion comic in Spawn/Batman. I don't have that comic.

VF, or better. The spine bindings on both covers show ink breakage, especially the front. The bottom right corner of the book has a slight bend that translates through the whole comic, but doesn’t break the ink.

Batman: The Official Comic Adaptation of the Warner Bros. Motion Picture (newsstand). This issue is a one-shot comic.

FN, or better. There is a one-quarter inch tear at the top of the back cover, as well as a number of indentations, wrinkles, and finger bends…most of which can be pressed out. Both covers show mild ink rubs near the spine. The back cover shows an edge crease on the top that breaks ink. A press might help, but only a little.

I purchased this comic before I joined the military in 1990. It has traveled with me until I finally settled down after retirement. Lol

Batman: Brotherhood of the Bat [nn]. This issue is a one-shot Elseworlds story that is set 50 years in the future, featuring a resurrected Ras Al Ghul creating the Batmen. It has a wrap-around cover.

VF, or better. The bottom spine corner shows mild drop damage that horizontally breaks the ink on the front cover. The back cover in the same spot shows a small spine crease. Both cover spine bindings show mild creasing that doesn’t break the ink.

Batman: Castle of the Bat [nn]. This issue is a one-shot Elseworlds story.

VF/NM, or better. The bottom spine corner shows very mild drop damage that does not appear to break the ink. The both covers show a very mild ‘bend’ of the spine binding. They aren’t creased, so there’s no ink breakage…possibly due to the glued nature of the spine rather than being read. The back cover shows some mild vertical cosmetic scratches in the gloss.

Batman: Catwoman Defiant [nn]. This is a one-shot issue, with the Catwoman logo stamped in gold prismatic foil. The front cover of the book shares an image with Batman: Penguin Triumphant.

This comic was published about the same time the Batman Returns movie debuted. Unfortunately, this comic was signed ‘Catwoman’ by someone at my LCS dressed as the character at the time of release. There’s also a polaroid photo of the individual…it came with the comic and shipped to me overseas.

VF, or better. The book is slightly ‘rolled’ at the spine bindings, which lightly break the ink on both covers. The back cover shows a UPC code, but it’s a sticker that was later added. There are some mild scuffs and scratches to the gloss on both covers. The 'signature' kinda ruins the book a little.

Batman: Dark Allegiances [nn]. This issue is a one-shot Elseworlds story by Howard Chaykin. The story takes place during World War II.

VF-, or better. You can plainly see some spine and edge wear. The bottom spine corner shows very mild drop damage that lightly breaks the ink on the back cover. The book is slightly ‘bent’ at the spine bindings, which show a little bit of creasing and ink breakage in spots.

Batman: Death of Innocents #1 (direct). This issue is a one-shot and it was originally written to educate the American Public to the lunacy of landmines.

VF, or better. The back cover shows light edge wear near the top left page corner. The first few pages of the comic show what looks to be very light moisture rippling/wrinkling near the bottom edges, but this isn’t visible on the front cover. There isn’t any sign of moisture damage, so this rippling/wrinkling could be a production defect.
