After several years of searching I am offering a $1,500 finder's fee for More Fun Comics 31 (1938).

The finder's fee will be rewarded if the lead leads to my successful acquisition of the copy AND lead provided prior to my bidding / acquisition discussions with a seller of the item. Only a single finder’s fee will be paid out. Please provide leads to me through DM.

Please note I am (painfully) aware of the copy “available” for offer on Heritage. I have made offers* for that copy already. Of course if you have a direct contact into that owner (and I can get a deal done from the introduction) DM me and we may find an exception to the above.

The $1,500 fee could adjust higher depending on the copy obtained and final transaction price.

* my offers were roughly 2x FMV (FMV including a transacted price for a copy in same grade over the past couple months).

Good luck, and keep us posted. I'm going to a local convention at the end of April, so I'll keep an eye out if you haven't snagged a copy by then.

Cool. Did not know that this issue is believed to be the first published image of Superman (interior ad). Always learning something new from the forums!

I'm surprised that the listed value of this book is relatively low. I didn't know anything about it, but with the superman ad I thought it would be 6 figures.

I'll be at comic con and look around if nothing shakes lose by then. Maybe someone there will have an idea.

@Davethebrave Good luck in the hunt.

I know the frustration of making generous offers on books and having them dismissed out of hand. One seller actually wrote me (along with the refusal) that whatever the market value of the book was now, it was going to go up and thus he was holding out for more money.

Of course it'll go up, but I'm not paying your projected prices.

Thank you and agree.

Even more frustrating is seeing books sell at prices <50% of what I have been offering. This happened twice in the past year. I would have gladly paid twice what some others sold at…

They left money on the table (literally).

Brings to mind the Billy Wright pedigree. Incredible collection of books people rarely talk about. Found the Heritage catalog a few months ago in my mess. Billy had a More Fun #31.

If I were you I woudl reach out to prominent dealers...Greg Reece, Metro, Ted/Superworld, Ritter/Worldwide, Harley Yee, etc. Those guys see more books than most people. Best of luck in your quest.

I was lucky enough to score a copy of this ghost of a book in December. Unfortunately, it’s not going anywhere for quite a while for the same reason. This may very well be the most underrated and undervalued book in comics. Good luck in your quest. Scott

I am just happy to see more raw copies popping up of this book. Gives me some hope I’ll grab one.

Missed a high grade copy that sold for something like $7k on Ebay last year. Missed it by hours.

Also, finder’s fee bumped up. Tax refund.

Finder’s fee temporarily raised to $3,000 for the next week. Same terms as original post.

Drops back to $1,500 after.

I missed it by 5 minutes. I saw it, scrolled through the new listings a bit more, went back to buy it and it was gone. Buyer was a guy in the UK I follow on IG. I found mine on IG completely by accident. Comic dealer was doing a reel video of an unboxing from CGC. Mid way through a stack of PCH they pulled this one out. I immediately messaged them and finalized the deal next morning. I honestly couldn’t believe it was just there. Scott
