Well I just made one of the coolest purchases. It cost me 4k(50.00 a book) but I am getting 80 comics pretty much all VF+/NM file copies. Some of which sell for a 1000 or more. One of the books is very scare called "If an A-Bomb Fall." I'll tell you more about the comics once all 80 books arrive and the significance of this paticular collection. Here is a pic of the A-Bomb and the H-Bomb which I already have. |

Quote:Originally Posted by OGJackster So now that the money has changed hands I can tell you what I have coming. Malcolm Ater owned and ran Commercial Comics from the 40s to early 70s, when he passed his son inherited everything, which included a few copies of all 80 titles he published. Jack Sparling the famous artists worked for Malcolm thoughout his career and actually married Malcolm's sister. Anyhow, he was able to put together 3 complete sets of all the comics published by CommercialComics. Two major colleges reached out to Malcolm's son and are doing a displays in their research centers to profile the importance of these works. Of the three sets he is letting me buy the best of the 3 due to my history with buying individual extra copies he had in the past i.e. H-bomb 1955, Pittsburgh Post Gazette 1947, Danny and his Demoncycle...etc. These books are the best of the best in NM shape. One of the books is a political comic Senator John McCarran of Nevada, done in 1954. These books were never released to the public because McCarran collapsed and died of a massive heart attack after giving a speech on Communism, just before the book was due out. Another for example is “A Man of Action, Footsie Britt,” which is consider the most exciting comic Malcolm Ater ever wrote. Great story. He was the 2nd most decorated soldier in WWII, earning every medal he was eligible for, including the Congressional Medal of Honor. Only Audie Murphy earned more medals (one) than Footsie Britt. Anyhow, I plan on getting every book graded and then video taping the entire works of Malcom Ater and artist Jack Sparling. So 4k for books like this was an easy call most of these books sell in the hundreds and some in low thousands. Should be fun. |

Quote:Originally Posted by SagiiNot slabbed yet. Was going to photo insides and get it in this year for grading. Last year I didn't get much graded spent the year buying stuff. Everytime I was about to send some books in, I would find some books I couldn't pass up on, so my slush fund for comics would get tapped out. So, focusing on grading books this year, no buying. With that being said I'm watching two books right now I may buy, lol. |

@earthshaker01 LOL, I can relate, won't commit to not buying though, but will certainly get more in to be graded than the last 3 previous years. Good luck on the watched books! |
