So am I. It's a manufactured item and lore. Gotta respond since I'm a hardcore member of the Marvel Comic Book collecting community since 1982.

Aside from the Green Goblin, that specific book introduced two other villains to the world.

Anyway...she says hi.

I remember her posting her side of the story and requesting that the forum moderators remove the thread. I believe the entire thread was deleted and I was hoping that was the last I ever heard about this book but it keeps popping up from time to time.

Edit: Looks like it wasn't deleted only locked:

That's why I responded today since it's BAAAAACK on Reddit. When the post you referenced here in this forum was made years ago, I could not reply since the original thread was locked. I let it go and told my side of the story on my little show "The Nostalgic Podblast." End of story, so I thought. Today I created an account here to tell my side of the story one final time since there were some untrue statements being thrown around from the past on Reddit and I was being labeled a "psychopath." Had I actually killed someone, I'd be in jail or dead. Let it end! The people who are in possession of this "Angry Variant" are making it out to be a bigger item than it really is. This forum sends me an email whenever someone comments to my post here and I will respond when I see fit.

True. Believe me, I am far from proud of all of this. All I'm doing is responding to address untruths. The thing I AM proud of in terms of my involvement with the Marvel Comic Book Community is unofficially creating the character of Madcap back in 1984 when I mailed Marvel HQ in NYC full color artwork I drew with a character synopsis which Mark Gruenwald claimed as his own. That's Boris the Bear in your icon. Have not thought about that character in decades. Back in 1986 when I was 15 I bought 12 copies of issue #1 of that book (which I still own) when it was brand new and "hot." Everyone back then thought it would be a big independent book like the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

Yea, it was created because of all the TMNT spoofs (which I also collected).
I remember at my LCS it was $5 on the shelf, day of release...and limit of one.
So I, of course, had to have more.
Ended up with 10 or 12 myself.

Back then we didn't use the internet...we used gasoline.

This is why the world needs a Jerry Springer show. I have my suspicions about why this tiny fire gets new kindling wood every few years. Likely this thread is either part of a publicity plan or a response to one. Either way it doesn’t bother me, it’s not like this forum is currently overburdened with “must read” material. If the thread is legit, I say it’s well past time to lighten up.

This entire Newsweek article from 2019 is suspicious. The writer makes it sound as if the book is a holy grail, which it is not. It's a graded 1.0 copy of Amazing Spider-Man #14. The 2 guys who currently own my former damaged book are fueling the publicity and hype fire for sure. Here is the Newsweek article: https://www.newsweek.com/spider-man-comic-marvel-green-goblin-angry-girlfriend-1451590

Plot twist, he (OP) owns the book and is trying to build hype.

Alternatively, buy the book. Sure, you may pay a ransom for it now but at least you’re hedged.

You are partially correct. If you do some basic research like a simple Google search, you'll learn who has the book. The same person has held the ruined book since 1993 after I sold it in 1990. He started the Cartersville Comic Book Convention in Cartersville, GA. Not naming names.

Pretty funny when you consider the type of people she's doing that too. The nerd-panic was real.

On the bright side, everyone's Hulk 181 increased in value when she was done.

The person who brought it up this time is this guy "Animal_Pharmacy" on Reddit yesterday. "Oh, I got to hold the "Angry G/F Variant!" : https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/108kwkr/got_to_hold_a_piece_of_comic_book_history_the/

My first "professional" job out of college was with a State Agency. The director there had a saying.

"Quit stirring the shit. If you have a pile of shit and leave it alone, it eventually crusts over and stops stinking. But if you keep poking it with a stick, stirring it around the shit keeps stinking."

The book is an amusing anecdotal story of relationship gone bad and girl took it out on the boy's comic book. The LESS I know about the story the funnier it is. Hearing debates about who did what, why and when only serves to make it less funny. More just sad childish.

So if the OP is really done with it just let it go 100%. Do not respond except to say something along the lines of "it was long ago and I have forgiven, forgotten and and moved on. I hope she can do the same. Meanwhile please respect my privacy, I no longer discuss this." If you enjoy the notoriety then don't pretend otherwise.

Seriously though. whatever this persons or your motives were for what happened in the past; they are going to keep dredging it up. I’ve seen this type of person and if they are still bringing it up after all this time then you are wasting your time and breath. This person probably enjoys antagonizing you every time the story dies down. Honestly if you let it be you will be better off. This person can whoop and holler all they want, it only affects you if you let it and they see that it is. I don’t know what happened in this persons mind or how you truly treated this person, but the extent of this grudge shows me it is truly blown out of proportion and this person has issues. If someone has a problem with you for something that happened 30 years ago and brings it up to you personally then you can explain your side; otherwise I don’t care and hair grows back.

While I realize this resurfaced elsewhere, I think people here are saying that, because you came here and called attention to something not already being discussed, YOU are the bringing it up. There is some truth in that, though I understand why you feel the need to defend yourself against a lie (I can't imagine anyone here feeling otherwise If it were them).
All liars hope that if they tell the lie enough times, it becomes true, and this is made easier when the lie is never called out.
Tough spot to be in,
