Plans are continuing to solidify! Looks like we'll be visiting Ôsaka Castle and we'll hunt down the memorial for Ishiyama Hongan-ji Temple - a fortified temple that got thoroughly Nobunaga'd - while we're there. We'll also be completing the Zoshigaya Lucky 7 pilgrimage in Tokyo, and that should be an interesting one. There's a change to the roster with Jurojin being replaced by the goddess Kisshoten, and speaking of goddesses, Fukurokuju is female in this Lucky 7! Also, Hotei is apparently in the lobby of a building!  How is that going to work? We'll be finding out!! |

I was going through some photos of past trips and I ran across this. This is a bus stop outside a train station in Wakayama prefecture. It's pouring rain and the bus stop has an onsen (natural hot spring), and it's set up so that folks waiting for a bus can kick off their shoes and socks and warm their feet in the onsen. One of the special perks of trekking out into the hinterlands in Japan.  |

| I'm outta here on Wednesday at 0-dark-30 in the morning (again)! I'll be meeting up with my friend (my usual traveling companion) in Osaka on the 7th, and we'll see what mischief we can get into from there. I believe we'll be checking out Maruoka Castle on the 8th while my friend's regional rail pass is still active so that she can use it for the trip there and back. We also have plans to visit Eihei-ji Temple that day. It's one of the head temples for Zen Buddhism in the country and apparently visitors are kept on a tight leash there. This should be interesting. | ||

| Getting ready to go (I just need to wash dishes and take out the trash & recycling), and I leave my place at 0500 in the AM. I'll do my usual waiting around in LAX for three hours and then it's my flight to Haneda Airport. The adventure will start very soon this time, because I've only been to Haneda Airport a very few times. I prefer Narita, but this will be a growth experience. | ||
