@xkonk Thanks! You probably don't want to hear this, but had I not gotten outbid on a GA Superman 28 lot on Comic Link about 7 minutes prior to the closing of the X-Men 239 lot, I would not have bid on the X-Men book. Weird how that domino effect happens.

@Danno I lost by more than the minimum (I think) so there might have been someone else in there as well. It's ok, there are more fish in the sea

More X-Men, but one that's a nostalgia grab (and a Canadian Price Variant). Growing up, I was never much of an X-Men fan. I had bought some issues off the stand here and there over the years, starting with 104. But it was with this issue, 175, that I started buying X-Men on a more regular basis. With the release of issue 201 in 1985, I started buying X-Men every month up through 307 in 1993. After that, I skipped a few issues up through 350 before my X-Men buying steadily dropped off.

Lately, I've been obsessed with putting together sets of graded books. This week, I started on my next set, which is to see if I can obtain a 9.8 copy of every Marvel 25th Anniversary issue. Oddly, I was never a fan of the specialty border that adorns each issue going back to the first time I saw those issues on the stand in 1986. But, here I am, with 5 down and another 24 to go.

Dell File Copy. For some reason the Certification number isn't in CGC's database. What's up with that?

Wow! That's quite the Anniversary cover collection. Reminds me of how I have long way to go still. I think I had bought 8-10 of the issues when they came out, but only for the titles that I was reading at the time. So, no Ewoks, or Muppet Babies, or Care Bears. The Care Bears one won't come cheap.

Thanks @poka! I tried a dozen times (more or less) and always got an error message. Maybe there was a temporary glitch on CGC's end. I didn't think to try looking up a different book. But it obviously works now. Thanks again. 😊

There may be mixed feelings on the purple label but I got it for about 25-30% of the cost of a blue label and it presents very well. Would love to hear some of your opinions on purchasing restored comics.

@PhilCoulson Awesome pickup! I'm with you on restored comics, though it sometimes depends on the restoration. For blue label SA and GA major keys that are pricey, I'd be more than happy having a purple label, especially if it presents well.

@Danno Thanks. I'm of the same frame of mind. Edge trimming is the one that turns me off right away on any comic. I just realized this photo is a bit blurry - I think the restoration includes color touch, pieces added, tear seals, and cleaned.

Another one to add to the pile. And one that I didn't expect to win, but apparently just did. Threw in a low-ball bid and became the highest bidder. Someone else then bid, which extended clock another 15 minutes, but the bid was $10 less than my max bid. No other bids were placed in those 15 minutes. Had that person, or someone else, put in another bid just a little bit higher, I would've tapped out.

And why stop with the Director's Cut when you can get a reprint edition that's not for resale?

A couple of horror pickups. Been wanting a copy of AAF 13 for some time, and not just because it respects my intelligence.
