Have I told you about the time I dropped off 3,000 comics at SDCC? | Scifinator private msg quote post Address this user
@gac ahhh, that would suggest to me that your books are in FL and are perhaps ready to be shipped to Dallas as I think they are still in 2-5 week TAT for grading.

@batman66 comics go to TX first and are then forwarded to FL and after press back to TX.

A couple questions...I have a few silver books I just came across and they have detached covers...are these pressable still? Also what is the highest grade I can get with a complete book with a detached cover? I have a showcase 30 in my silver age sale thread I'm debating keeping and pressing
Post 932 IP flag post |
If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. | xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
@Enelson don't know about the pressing part, but from CBCS' grading page it sounds like a detached cover tops out at 3.0.

Quote:Originally Posted by Wallstreet seems like all the creases etc are colour breaking...so although a press might get the actual crease out the colour break still remained?? not sure if there would be any other way to describe colour breaks once the crease is gone other than to say colour breaking crease?? guessing the colour breaks are also in the shape of a crease i.e. 10" long colour break - not a scrape but a break due to a crease - how to describe when the crease itself is gone (hopefully!!)?? |

@KatKomics Well. I don't have a better explanation than that... Thanks. There's a much longer wait at CCS and CGC so I was weighing pros and cons for my upcoming submissions.

My comics were submitted under quickstream and marked by CBCS as received on July 13th... They are still marked as received, only. In December, it appears I was finally charged for pressing. Is this time frame normal?

I don't know what's normal for pressing, but I'd settle for even having my submission from June 15th show up as received.

Does anyone know if/when the dashboard will be updated when the Pressing Office receives my books? I shipped them out on Monday, Jan 5th. USPS tracking says they were "Out for Delivery" on the 8th, and for the last couple days it just says, "ALERT, Awaiting Delivery Scan". I contacted USPS and they're investigating where the package might be, but they also mentioned that it may have been delivered and the mail carrier just didn't scan it correctly, or that no one was at the office to accept the package. It's about a $1000 worth of books so I'm freaking out a little.

@Supertom it may very well have been delivered. Sometimes it takes them awhile to properly checkin all of the submissions. There may have been a flurry of submissions in dec and early jan. I have submissions that fedex tracking shows were delivered the last week of Dec that have not been updated to “Received” yet in my dashboard.

@Scifinator That's what worries me. I'm relying on two companies that may or may not be doing their job correctly. I called CBCS customer service which apparently now is just a call center? The person couldn't tell me anything other than what was shown on my dashboard. I asked if I could speak with someone that's actually at one of the CBCS offices and at first he said he didn't have that information. Then he transferred me to someone that didn't pick up and a voicemail box that was full.

@Supertom I signed for a package today that the driver said they attempted delivery yesterday but we were not in the office. It was probably yours if you check the tracking again. I don't know where he tried to deliver it yesterday because we were in the office all day. |

Just to update you all, I had submitted my books at the Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con on June 14, 2019. There were 4 modern and 1 bronze age comic, all submitted for pressing. 1 had an authentic signature and 3 of them had VSP. They finally showed up on my dashboard on November 27, 2019, despite multiple emails and calls. The frustration was that I could never return a call when someone actually from CBCS called. My job is pretty busy with clients, so I can't just drop what I'm doing to take the call. But when I'd call the number they left back, the person never answered and the voicemail didn't work. Beyond frustrating. Anyway, not only was it over 5 months before my books showed up on my dashboard, but then they were stuck in billing for another month despite my emails and calls to address the errors that were on my invoice. Finally last week those errors appeared corrected on my dashboard and my books are in grading. Hallelujah. As I've stated before, I don't mind the waiting. I just hated that I had no way to know if CBCS actually had my books. And then trying to communicate is next to impossible. The call center is awful and they're going off a script. Any actual issues have to be forwarded to someone at CBCS who actually knows what is going on. I've been using CBCS since 2015. I like the quality of the work they do, especially on the pressing side and the fact that they offer the VSP program. I just hope the technological and communication issues can be improved going forward. |

@lawguy1977 Yup!! Just got my books back a week or so ago from June 7th 2019!! My latest order the only comfort I have is the delivery verification so I know CBCS Canada got my books on Dec 30th. Last time it took over a month for them to show on my dash when handed over in person. It will be interesting to see how long the whole process takes this time! Hopefully not another 7 months!!! |

I have never had a problem yet with them putting orders on my dash, or billing for that matter but once you get a book pressed threw them you have to understand it takes a little bit of time to have a quality press done to each and every book! Now just imagine 1000 people sending 5 books in each time... it can be lengthy! Thats why i just hire a guy to press them for me insted of waiting now... just saying i dont work there and I feel for these guys working here!

My one book submitted last June for press/screen finally showed up "processing" and now went to billing. Price quoted originally was 92 dollars for the whole thing including shipping. Now a 30 dollar "fee" has been added to raise the total to 122 dollars. Anyone know what that would be for? |
||
Post 947 IP flag post |
I'd like to say I still turned out alright, but that would be a lie. | flanders private msg quote post Address this user
It would depend on what tier you submitted your book back, how much you insured it for and if you had any promotion code applied. The 30 fee could be because it passed press screening. CBCS won't charge for grading or pressing if you select a screen until it passes the minimum grade selected.

Collector | Forbush private msg quote post Address this user
Ok thanks. The original tier price was $34, press/screen $35, shipping $23 for the $92 dollars. Was already charged that and I guess I'll wait and see what the extra 30 was for.
