@KatKomics No, I haven't been charged, and I just have the pink invoice slip given to me at the convention. Them not having my books has been my biggest fear, especially as I sent one of my favorite key books in for pressing. So that's why I've called twice, but they just keep telling me that they have them and that they will show up. I've been polite so far, but after the official 16 weeks for pressing goes by, I'm going to be more "forceful" with my next call. I don't mind that the pressing takes so long, I just want them to be in the dashboard so I can have confirmation that they're actually there. |

@lawguy1977 @AmazingSpidergram I spoke to Kendra in customer service last week about my books received on June 5th (dropped off at a con on June 1st). In her best "estimate" which I told her I understood to be "unofficial" she estimated it should be complete by the end of this month. My card was charged and the books are now showing received. If you can reach Kendra, she will give you most of the answers you need. I'm at ease for the moment (at least until Oct. 31) (EDIT - I submitted a total of 6 books, 5 modern and 1 expanded (extended?). Two of the moderns had signatures to be verified, two had authentic signatures. All had pressing.) |

@Paint_Monk @KatKomics Thanks so much for the input! I got a call from Kendra today and she apologized and told me that the data entry person in Florida quit awhile back and it's been really tough for them to have the data entered. Basically, the folks doing the pressing are doing the data entry as they go through the books that they press. Right now, they're working on books submitted in June. Kendra also said that they're sending a person from Texas to the Florida location to help with the data entry (though that person won't be there until the end of the month). Kendra was super nice and helpful, and she apologized again for the lack of information on the dashboard. I'm supposed to call her back if my dashboard isn't updated by the end of the month. So I feel a lot better about the situation. I guess if anyone knows some data entry folks looking for work in Florida, they should give CBCS a call. |

I sent an order on Sept 12 and already got it back. I did fast press but that's only supposed to cut the time in half.

@Duece411 Press screen means they look at the book and decide if pressing would increase the grade at least one level (5 to 5.5, or 9.2 to 9.4). If they think it would, they press it. If not, they don't press it.

So a pressing would fix this?

Does anyone if Pressing would be able to remove these defects on the spine? I am thinking no based on what pressing can do and can't but would like your your people's opinion. |

@hitmantyler Pressing will not fix that.

@Duece411 The impact defect sound promising from the notes, but should be inspected in hand before deciding. Wear usually can't be fixed and may be a factor in putting a cap that the book can achieve in grade.

The only way to fix that is to buy a copy that is nicer. I can't speculate on the grade.

I'd like to say I still turned out alright, but that would be a lie. | flanders private msg quote post Address this user
I read on 3rd party comic book pressing sites that after the book is initially pressed it will rest for a week to determine if any of the pressable defects returned and if so will be pressed a second time at no additional charge. Does CBCS do this as well or are books shipped for grading immediately after the initial pressing & cleaning?

Well, as of November 5th it will be FIVE MONTHS since my items were received by CBCS (based on receiving them the following Wednesday after a con). Emails and a brief talk with Kendra at the end of September/beginning of October indicated they would be in Texas for grading around the end of September. It's now October 23rd and three emails to Kendra have gone unanswered, and the dashboard is still showing "submitted". Ironically, I made a long shot and called customer service yesterday, who of course, told me my "books are at the pressing office." They figured I sounded frustrated and said they were transferring my call - which went to an unidentified inbox where I left a message. This is becoming a joke. I have tried to be professional - frustrated, but professional - but now I'm just getting angry. |

@Paint_Monk Books from your show are currently being pressed. They should be in Dallas by the end of next week. I suspect two or three weeks after that they will be on the way back to you.

Books from the week of Heroes will start pressing next week. It will take a few weeks to get through them because there were three shows received from that weekend.
