Have I told you about the time I dropped off 3,000 comics at SDCC? | Scifinator private msg quote post Address this user
@SteveRicketts What is this billing policy for sending in a CGC encased comic for CBCS Pressing & Grading? I ask because back in January I sent in an order for such and upon receipt by CBCS in FL, the $12 pressing fee was removed and a $5 press screening fee was added. Then a couple of days ago, I noticed that the $12 pressing fee was re-added while the $5 press screening fee is still applied. I sent in a note to customer service, but haven't received a response yet. I just want to also make sure I load up the orders correctly as I have a couple dozen more CGC encased books that I want to send in for press and re-grade by CBCS. Thanks much. |

@Scifinator I believe that before cracking out of a case they will screen first (as best they can through the case) to see if a press would be likely to increase the grade of the book. Pretty sure that's why you ended up with the screening charge. If you want them pressed no matter what then might be easier to just crack them out of the cases before sending in? |

@Scifinator If you choose "Press Screen" on a book that was already in a holder by any certification company, you are charged the screening fee. If I think it has a chance to get a grade bump, the book is then cracked out of the holder and pressed and sent for grading. You are charged the pressing and grading fees in addition to the screening fee. If I do not think it has a chance of getting a grade bump, I leave it in the case, which is sent back to you without being pressed or graded by CBCS, and you only pay the screening fee.

@SteveRicketts Thank you for your reply. That is the thing though. I did not choose "Press Sceen" I opted directly for Press & Grade. CBCS added press screen after order receipt.

Just received by my very first pressed comics. 1) Though bagged and boarded, my Marvel Fanfare had a SERIOS fold across the full width of the top from bad placement in my box. As I am the original owned, when I saw this, I was heartbroken. 2) X-Men 100 was green labeled 9.2, so at 9.4 now, was well worth it. @SteveRicketts & team...Thanks much! |

Mid-April? You have a few months to go. Mine were posted received on 2/27 and still show "Processing", at this point I don't know if the pressing option even changes the status. For all I know my stuff was pressed already and is on its way back to TX to get graded.

@Sekeeth when the website is acting properly, the status will change to 'pressing'. Then it'll stay there a while, even if the book is in TX, until it's in grading and then it will update to 'grading'. At least that's what happened for me before. I used press screen so I should also get a shift to billing at some point in there when they actually press the books they're going to press.

Looks like the pressing TAT is getting better. My submission received by CBCS on May 29 included some books to be pressed now shows a status in "Grading". If that's accurate, then kudos to CBCS and @SteveRicketts . I'll update once the books are shipped back to me.

My comics have been in "processing" status since they recieved them on 2/27. They are supposed to be pressed before grading, but it has been SEVENTEEN WEEKS as of tomorrow. They also have yet to answer any emails I've sent asking for an update. Getting mighty frustrated. The CGC comics submitted a week after these on 3/4 have already been returned pressed and graded while CBCS submission hasn't even been updated.

@Sekeeth Just an FYI, I have already received my Press, Sig Ver, and Grade submission back but status still shows processing, so I might guess that your submission has already been pressed. My submission was 5 weeks earlier than yours and I received it a couple of weeks ago. By the way, I was ecstatic with the results. My Marvel Fanfare was folded 100% across the top and the X-men was a 9.2 green label so up a grade with press was worth the wait. |

I've used the pressing before and am happy with how it turns out. Just checking on the time because I have an order from mid April that hasn't even been press screened yet, let alone go to grading.

@xkonk once my books were pressed it went through grading to shipping very quickly. 90% of the time was grading.

I sent a package to the Clearwater location for pressing and FedEx has been unable to deliver package for 2 days straight. I made the error of signature confirmation. They will try again tomorrow. Is there something wrong with that location? It seems to me the 2 delivery attempts would have been reasonable normal business hours. That shipment also was taking advantage of the 10% off coupon. So I am concerned about losing out on that promotion. |

I submitted a book for pressing at FanExpo Dallas and the book was processed on 5/10. I used one of the complimentary Fast Passes from my membership enrollment to speed the process up after it went through standard pressing. If a book was submitted to pressing around 5/10 (9 weeks ago), when should I bee looking for it to move to fast pass grading?

My regular submissions were received by CBCS on May 31st, but my order for comics to be pressed weren't received until June 25th. All were shipped out on the same day. I had hopes that they had been pressed and shipped back for grading, as my unpressed books were done in just under 3 weeks (which is amazing). However, these posts tell a much different story. Could the nearly 4 week delay have been due to a large volume of books to be pressed ahead of mine?

@SteveRicketts I have an inquiry for you and/or your team. I have a few Incredible Hulk 393 and on the back cover (more of the cardboard stock due to front foil cover) there appears to be a uniform manufacturing flaw. Please see right below the glare for the wrinkle. As there is no color break, would your pressing genius work on this comic? Thanks much for your time and guidance. |
