@SteveRicketts

Is the service just a single press of the book or does the book get pressed again (and perhaps again), if needed before handing it off to be graded?

@CaptainCanuck It's multiple presses if needed.

Is “pressing” a status after processing or does the status go straight to “grading”?

I asked this question under the Steve Borock interview thread but do not believe it was addressed. Is the "pressing" operation moving to the Dallas area? If so, how will shipping to the "grading" process in Dallas be handled? Thanks.

More details about the relocation will be released as they are determined and finalized. I suspect more will be announced in the next few weeks.

@SteveRicketts what is the current TAT for pressing itself?

Can glossy paper modern books be pressed as well as older newsprint books? Seems like the glossy ones wouldn't do as well, especially the spines. Just trying to see if its worth considering

@SteveRicketts Can cardstock/bookshelf (Thanos quest/killing Joke) format comics be pressed-sorry if this has been answered before didn't want to peruse 21 pages

Yes. Not all defects on card stock are created equally, though. Some things come out, others leave traces. Pressing can help, but the success level is not as high as with thinner paper.

@stevericketts My order still just says received and it's about a week or 2 away from the 24 weeks TAT... are we going to make it? *fingers crossed

@teacha777 Probably not, but it won't be far behind that. It will be close.

I have some exciting news coming for pressing. I'm waiting on a few more things to be finalized before announcing anything. I expect that to happen in a few weeks.

@SteveRicketts I'm a little confused by the TAT chart for a modern book-with fast pass and fast press...is it 12 weeks? Or should it be 6?

I don’t see pressing as an option under the Services portion of the site unless I missed it. What is pricing / details?

Apologies if I somehow missed it on the main cbcs site.

Might be a question for Steve, I have a book that I am thinking about taking out of a CGC slab and pressing but not sure if it would help, would anyone on site at MegaCon be able to help judge at the booth?

No graders will be at the show, but Mark Roman will be there. He may be able to help.

I just want to point out to everyone that Pressing is now on the online submission form!
They're supposed to be fixing the GUI at some point, but I'll take what I can get for now.

Great News! What is GUI?

Now... If I choose the pressing option, Do I have to re-enter the Book again for grading on another line of the submission form?

Thanks

@BigRedOne1944 GUI = Graphic User Interface

Another way to look at GUI =

Those types of software that have "point and click" functions on fields and/or "submit" buttons.

*shrugs*

It is sort of hard to explain without visuals...

I have 2 books that were received by CBCS on December 13, 2017. I sent them for pressing and grading. (Invoice
17-3F22E57) Over 6 MONTHS later...still nothing and it just says “Received.” Absolutely ridiculous!!

@HammitChris your order is pressed. It should be expedited through the rest of the process as soon as it hits the grading room. I would expect it to be within the next two weeks.

Thank you for the update. I haven’t had any luck getting a hold of customer service.
