VSP include comics sealed in org bag?1871

Collector ZosoRocks private msg quote post Address this user
Okay...here is my question.

Like the Superman #75 direct edition "Black bag"....Batman #500 also was another Collector's Ed...with a comic sealed in a sprcial bag.

I have one copy signed by Doug Moench and Kelley Jones.

Will the VSP program grade and verify the book and signatures...OR....will it only include verifying the signatures....OR....will I have to remove tbe book from the bag, so it can be graded seperately - and ultimately lose the verification of the signatures?

Thanks to all who rrspond.

From what i have read that the book will be removed, and that the bag in the long run will ruin the book and damage it. I took my superman #75 out from its bag and placed in a bag and board.

The graders have to grade the book thats the other reason why the book has to be out of the bag. How can they grade a book when it is still in the bag.

I agree to what has been said, and I do have a different raw 9.6+ issue that has been separated from the bag for MY file copy, but was curious on how they would treat the autographs outside of the bag,

Choices seem to be these....

- no grade but VSP assigned
- no grade and no VSP if comic is bagged. Autgraphs mean nothing for service, if not applied directly to comic book.
- grade comic if removed from bag only, but no VSP assigned.
- VSP assigned for autigraphs, but no grade for comic if still sealed in bag.
- not an eligible submission in current state.

Thanks again, I hope that clarifies it a little more.

The book will be removed from polybag, otherwise it can't be encapsulated.

I've got the same problem. Cant grade a book that you can't see.

I haven't tried it yet but I would think the best compromise would be to have cbcs send to vsp, cut the bag open for grading, and then try to convince them to put the comic back in the bag before encapsulation.

When I originally got them signed, I didn't stop to think (like many others), that I was now collecting a bag more than a comic. And of course we ALL thought that if we didnt open the bag it would be worth a lot more!

I had two but I never did get to see or wear my funeral armband due to my greed lol. In hindsight I should have just enjoyed the book and its goodies 🤔

If you mean the bag was signed, we don't authenticate and encapsulate signatures on the bag. They have to be directly on the book.

Thanks Steve.....that is what I initially thought, but wanted to ask to put it to rest.

Thanks again!

I totally missed that your sig was on the bag.

Isn't there a submission, where you can just get your upgraded art slab bed? If there is such a think, wouldn't it possible to crude the signatures, and put it bagged, in an Art, non graded slab, with signature verification?

@Johnny_B You mean submit it for a red ART label non graded in order to slab the whole polybag? You'd have to ask @SteveRicketts about that one.

Yes, that one. Thanks for the clarification!

Yes, you can do the bag through the Original Art program, but we can't encapsulate the comic in the bag.

Comic by itself, yes.
Bag by itself, yes.
Combo comic and bag, no.
