Alien (1979). Somehow I've seen almost all the others including several Alien v. Predator films, but managed to not watch this one. We'll see if there's a reason I've passed on this until now.

I watched "Skin" on one of the Amazon Prime channels this morning. I think it was ShoTime. It's the real life story of an Ohio neonazi who leaves the white supremacist movement. It is VERY powerful and NOT for kids!!!! If that sounds like something you might like, I highly recommend it!!

I watched Troll the other night. Looks like it could have been made by a Norwegian sci-fi channel, but I thought it was decent enough.

Kind of enjoyed "Ancient Apocalypse" on Netflix but now watching episodes of "Mysteries of the Abandoned" on Discovery. Similar themes over different timelines, I guess.

I finally watched the new season of Dexter, I enjoyed it but it didn't quite have the edge the original series did. Michael Hall is still great in the role though.
I thought it was a little predictable but worth a watch if you liked the original Dexter.
"I'm a very neat monster." from season 1 of Dexter is also one of my favorite lines ever.

Watched Black Adam.

7/10.

First half was mediocre-to-weak. Third quarter was great. Ending okay. Post credit cameo, even absent the recent developments, meh.

Lots of potential but it just didn’t come together as well as it could have. Intro narration was poor. Doctor Fate and Hawkman were great.

If you made it half way you paid the toll without crossing the bridge. The second half was much better.

Edit: “paid the toll without crossing the bridge” is an original to my knowledge. Granted, a few glasses of wine and maybe a couple rum and cokes deep.

Edit 2: maybe that also explains the better second half review..

It sounds like being sober is the problem. Too bad I have to rely on better movie making instead of a simple remedy.

Unfortunately I am a harsh critic regardless. The first half was weak and I drank mostly with dinner (pre-movie).

It's been years since I've watched Close Encounters. I didn't even know there was a directors cut. It's pretty darn good so far!!!

@power_struggle55 I watched it back when it released. The episodes are hit or miss depending on the guest, but they're short enough to power through for some laughs.

I watched Bullet Train last weekend and A Christmas Story Christmas last night. Although very different, I thought both were worth watching.
(Hint: Do you want to know a secret to not hating a film? Go in with low expectations, especially for sequels and hyped up films.)
