He doesn't sound very attractive to me. Personally, I'd rather meet @flanders.

How do I delete a new topic I started? I started one looking for LCS recommendations, but think I should have listed it here.

You can't. Only moderators can delete a thread. I wouldn't worry about it. You've already got a few pretty good responses.

Thanks, I appreciate all the help I can get on here. Not too many collectors around me that want to sit and talk about what is good to collect, grade, or etc.

@Retired_11B You haven't found the right lcs yet. Call it dumb luck but I've experienced two lcs that were great with regular collectors and both were on different continents. They both have one thing in common and that is they only sell vintage comics, no new books.

One shop back in Australia us collector ks would meet up every Saturday afternoon at the store talking about different comics, sports and politics while drinking coffee. And we all didn't collect the same vintage books or genres as well so there was a wealth of information I discovered with one collector whose main focus was on Australian printed comics with a focus of original content.

Then here in the States a little different with less collectors on a Saturday afternoon and they drink beer in the store which is kind of different for me to engage in.

And as regulars we're always buying books and at those kind of lcs that deal only in vintage books and have regular customers deals are to be had.

It's interesting seeing lcs that deal with just vintage books how they operate and the regular customers who meet up there that just collect vintage books.

Does anyone use USPS Registered Mail for submissions?

Is it cheaper than others?

Is insurance rate different?

Any special considerations?

I’m going to be hosting a comic book swap meet at my LCS, Austin Books and Comics on Saturday Oct 14. If anyone is in the area, come on out. It’s free.
Trades will be encouraged (at least from me).
Will be roughly 20 tables set up.

For the Golden Age collectors here. Can anyone confirm why this comic has Issue 11 printed on the cover, but according to CovrPrice it is issue 2?
I was able to pick this up in an auction and it looks to be in ridiculously good shape.
I’m trying to learn more about it.
Too good a price to pass up for high condition golden age.

The publisher probably continued the numbering from another title that was discontinued in favor of Liberty Comics. The same way Marvel Mystery Comics (a super hero title) runs through issue 92, and the issue following is the first issue Marvel Tales (a horror title) but still carries the issue number 93.

Looking at the titles published by Green, it doesn't seem like numbering was their specialty https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?pl=Green%20Publishing%20Co%2E

That makes sense.
I’m going to do some digging after work tonight.
I don’t really have anything in terms of Golden Age so this will be a fun research project. 🤓

Long time no see everyone! I sent in a couple of modern books for VSP but in the link for turnaround time I'm not seeing the additional time for the VSP. What is it adding for time.

Probably just a setting in the software... but my guess is no. Maybe we can bribe @Jesse_O to do it.

Nope.

I've been promised additional emoticons from @mikew, the Forum Tech, for going on two years. In fact, he told me that it's something he promised Jesse a long time ago.

Front and back pics of Swamp Thing 3 that came into the store. Orange front cover on one and the red missing is why the driver on the back cover ad is wearing green and not brown.

It’s not cheaper, it’s awesomer. It’s like traveling Elite class for comic books. But you need to have paper tape to put over the seams of any boxes that you use. They will then stamp the paper tap to reveal any tampering in transit.

That was my experience as well, but they also told me that I'm supposed to be doing it myself, so I bought a role of paper tape. I'm that guy who silently scolds the people in front of me who cause a hold up at the post office or the airport.
