You're thinking of the $3 bill. All the cool kids use the $2 one.

I keep an emergency $2 bill in my underwear. Even weirder considering that I wear boxers.

Anyone expect some realllllly good deals in the early June auctions?

I see some early bid-ups on a few AF15 copies on CC. Odd strategy.

@GAC You know what else will blow your mind?

We use to have "Fractional currency" also... about 125 years ago... a paper bill that represents 50 cents, 25 cents, 5 cents.

It did cross my mind… and I have seen more fail-to-close auction outcomes (bidders not actually buying what they won). It seems egregious on the AF15 books that have otherwise been soft recently. Just odd timing… early June has a ton of risk.

Anyone else collect watches?

I mentioned some parallels with comics a while back but this is a good article on how that market behaved over the last few years.

So I'm going to submit comics for grading, and there's two options. One for Comics, the other for Magazines.

If I want to submit a single oversized book (Action Force #1) with my order, can I just put it in with the comics and CBCS will break it out once they receive the books?

You have to do one submission for comics, and one submission of Magazines, but you can put them in the same box when shipping to CBCS.

It’s the thing I can use to time stuff without having Siri or Alexa or “…” replace my “two” with a “three” or generally fail me at the worst time due to insufficient charge :-)

In all seriousness, I consider some watches (like certain cars) “mechanical art”… craftsmanship, innovation, practicality, usefulness, uselessness all in various (interesting) combinations.

I also have the very first Apple Watch with the “limited” stainless bracelet (hated wearing the thing) AND just recently got the newest version (much more useful). So not a true luddite.

I haven't worn a watch for many years, but when I did, I considered it to be my only accessory...like the only piece of jewelry for a man who doesn't pierce or wear bracelets and necklaces. Typically, I think guys will choose something that is symbolic...representative of how they perceive themselves or how they want others to perceive them.

So I was mistaken. My buddy wants to liquidate all but a few sentimental books. I suggested to him mycomicshop.com for raw and graded books. I offered to look over his lists to try and identify keys.

But any suggestions on how to get rid of books for a person that doesn't grade is greatly appreciated. He says he has runs and series. I know he took good care of his books. Always air-conditioned and locked in a room where his kids never had access to them. (Not that they showed any interest in the books) bagged and boarded etc...

I would offer to post them on forums, but my grading is not accurate, and that is a prerequisite of selling on forums.

I collect (and wear) a variety of watches that are pretty different from one another. Consistent themes are aesthetically pleasing while still being functional. Cuz ya know I need to be able to time hot laps, read several time zones while piloting a wide-body on a transatlantic flight, and then do some free diving in the Maldives.

@Bronte what’s the harm with posting and then giving a grade estimate with photos and the obvious caveat?

Have the asking prices set high enough that your friend is covered and then let them entertain offers and further follow-up.

I haven’t worn a watch in 10 years but I used to everyday. I still have my Victorinox my rents got me when I turned 16 though. I also have a Wenger the boss got me when I turned 30.

I think @Bronte would possibly be overly critical of the grades out of an abundance of caution. Maybe a way around that would be to first open a "Grade My..." thread and get forum opinions of the grades. Then use that grade range for stated grade to determine pricing and open a sales thread.

I was being somewhat sarcastic. But there are some people on the forum who can't help hijacking a sales thread.
