By raising prices every few months.

Funny you mention this; I just slapped together a submission, and it was surprisingly expensive! My last sub was last April, just before the new prices went into effect. I don't have a choice in this submission, it is 5 books with signature verification on all five (one book with two sigs).

Yikes!!!!

My first non-signing event order in years and years has been received at the 'other' guys.
About 6 months or so pressing at a 3rd party - lets see what their TATs are now they are actually being graded and how they come back - I hear they also have horror stories re: scratch/broken cases etc.

Does it have to be someone famous that dies to make a thread for them? My neighbor is tapping out from pneumonia and I was wondering if it would be appropriate to post his obituary.

@HeinzDad

In my opinion more than 1/2 the people that died I have no clue who they are. If you have a person that you have a vested interest in, that makes it more appropriate than some one that nobody really knows.

Sure we can say RIP, but if we can offer comfort to someone that really has a loss I would say that is more the family of CBCS than some stranger nobody knows except by name.

I think it should be kept to appreciation threads for forum members and people that are part of the comic book and film commmunity. It would be nice if people shared their comics, photos, other memorobilia and personal stories about meeting those that have passed rather than reposting something non-comic industry related that was mentioned recently on the news. I just don't get why there's a need to post these things on a comic book forum, even if it were in an OT thread.

I got an e-mail back from customer service in under 24 hours asking for information to send me a pre-approved return label. Will update once they're en route back.

It's been this way for quite awhile now. I tried to find the first time that MCS or another shop mentioned it. I found this from the MCS newsletter in March 22, 2022.

I want to say that it started because of supply shortages. I think Marvel just kept doing it (off and on) for cost reasons after that. I'm still looking for more info on this and will update again if I get more exact information.

Yes, both companies consider anything pre-1975 to be "Vintage" and charge accordingly.

Gracias.

One more question. Is the 40 day TAT that CBCS is offering now for vintage expire with the 15% off sale, or is that going to remain?

I think it's supposed to stay but the only real answer is, "I guess we'll find out."

I dunno. But in tbe 90s there was a lot of drek that nobody wanted. If you are guaranteed 1 issue watch it be star Terry number 2.

So I have a friend who picked this book up in the eighties, it was in a ā€œDollarā€ box. But he paid 20 dollars for it. I asked him to send me some pic and this is what he sent. I know itā€™s asking for a lot , but with this little info, what grade would you guess. He said it was complete with no cutouts. He's not selling or anything, he sold his entire collection many years ago and was curious as to what it might be worth.

I gave him a bag and board when I saw him a few weeks ago, he just had it put away in a box. Sheesh. Bag and boards were not a thing when we first started buying comics.
