Lately though there has been a HUGE influx of idiot motorcycle and bicycle doing wheelies on road. Sometimes during traffic in intersection. I secretly hope they get seriously hurt to learn a lesson.

Another recent phenomenon is electric scooters on sidewalk. Now you really have to be careful because some idiot is going 30mph on sidewalk and I'm not used to looking for oncoming traffic from the right on a sidewalk....

I thought the specific interest here was in finding a CBCS graded 9.8 comic with a date stamp/pencil that wasn’t a Pedigree?

His book does not appear to be a pedigree.
My book probably is the most modern book that I have seen with a date stamp. That concerns me a little bit.

As I noted above, the US is the outlier. Most of the world allows it for various reasons. Technically, what you described is called filtering (driving down lane markings when other cars are stopped). This is even more supported and is explicitly -legal- in more states than just California. Technically it is safer for the motorcyclist since they aren’t as exposed to severe collision while stopped (so long as drivers are checking mirrors and not randomly opening doors).

Filtering happens in more states than it is explicitly legal in, as it isn’t explicitly illegal in many more states…

Driving fast while filtering, or touching cars while doing so, etc, has more to do with bad etiquette or reckless driving generally. Many drivers who drive cars in their lanes are doing dumb, reckless things, but “in lane driving” isn’t the issue.

Personally, as a driver, I don’t like lane splitting because I don’t like people that close to my paint.

Its called "Lane splitting" and the laws vary greatly state by state, country by country.

My two cents:

Whether its legal or not, opening your car door to cause an accident puts you at fault for the damage and injuries as it is illegal to intentionally cause an accident / harm to another, not to mention insurance in the USA wont cover the damage costs because a crime was committed and they dont cover crimes.

Best to leave them alone and let police handle it if they choose.

Things that ive been watching a lot of on youtube are those "First Amendment Audit" videos. Some are better than others, but my favorite is "Long Island Audit" and "Civil Rights Lawyer" who likes to review the legalities of police activities.

re: date stamps in CBCS's grading standards

I see that they are allowed in 9.6, but I don't see anything mentioned in 9.8s about them.

That is very unsafe & as mentioned, stay away from my paint. I have been riding crotch rockets for almost 40 years and never once have I done this, I have been 300km + on secluded roads but try to ride normal when there's people in the area, surroundings matter.

To be honest, I really didn't know 'lane splitting' was a thing until I started seeing it on those videos. I often wonder to myself what those motorcycle drivers do once the light turns green. Gun it to get in front?

Actually, it sure looks like a lot of those bike drivers who do this are looking for conflict.

Consider areas with a lot of two wheelers. Europe and Asia. Now imagine lines of bikes behind cars and impact on traffic flow.

From a rider’s POV they don’t want to sit as “last in line” at a stop and get rear ended by a texting driver, etc.

But I still don’t “like” it… but context makes a big difference and I doubt road rage videos are a good source. Otherwise I’d question anyone who buys a baseball bat.

WHAT'S HAPPENING?

Just finished reading the March 7th MY COMIC SHOP weekly newsletter and they
expressed concerns with the paper quality of newly released MARVEL COMICS.
Last week they received a new issue of GHOST RIDER from MARVEL "...where the
production quality was rough enough that almost all copies received would
grade Very Fine at best...". "...MARVEL is using the same lightweight paper
for the covers that they use for the interiors."

Any one notice this with new purchases?

I'll have to check next week when I go to my local shop - I've drastically cut down my pull list and Marvel hasn't made the cut in a while - but I can always look!! - the trick will be if I remember by next week - lol!!!

I got an order of 13 books back yesterday, 9 of the 13 had scuffing or scratches to the cases. I was able to buff out a few of them and fired off an e-mail to customer service last night noting the damages and books. Last time I did this, there was a ticket system or an automated reply. I didn't get anything this time....

Does anyone know the answers to these questions...

1 - How does CBCS handle this situation? Will they replace the outer holders on the damaged books? Books were encased in bubble wrap, it looks like they skidded across the floor or similar before bubble wrap stage.

2 - I can't find any type of phone number (I've heard the stories). Any idea how long it takes to receive a reply from Customer Service?

I'm a big fan of CBCS and their product. I've backed them on social media quite a few times with unboxing videos, one hit 460K+ views over on Tik Tok. I really enjoy their product and use them almost exclusively for my personal collection, but I have heard the horror stories on customer service...just wondering if anyone has any (legitimate) suggestions on how to navigate this as efficiently as possible now that I'm in a situation for the first time where I need customer service.

Funny you mention this; I just slapped together a submission, and it was surprisingly expensive! My last sub was last April, just before the new prices went into effect. I don't have a choice in this submission, it is 5 books with signature verification on all five (one book with two sigs).

Yikes!!!!

My first non-signing event order in years and years has been received at the 'other' guys.
About 6 months or so pressing at a 3rd party - lets see what their TATs are now they are actually being graded and how they come back - I hear they also have horror stories re: scratch/broken cases etc.

@HeinzDad

In my opinion more than 1/2 the people that died I have no clue who they are. If you have a person that you have a vested interest in, that makes it more appropriate than some one that nobody really knows.

Sure we can say RIP, but if we can offer comfort to someone that really has a loss I would say that is more the family of CBCS than some stranger nobody knows except by name.
