| Another sign of how serious WB is about DC, they recently announced James Gunn and Peter Safran as co-leads. To me this shows commitment to both quality and the commercial side. WB/Discovery has been freeing up capital to spend big on DC. | I just hope these two see the incredible potential DC has in its "Justice League Dark" cast of characters. That's the one thing that, IMO, DC had that Marvel doesn't... a well-crafted complex universe of magic/occult related characters. | ||

| I suspect they will use character IP very effectively. My guess is direct involvement will depend on character type. Core characters = they provide overarching guidance on tone and scope, and intertwined stories. Non-core characters, more likely for Gunn to direct creatively. I see JLD for sure, LSH, JSA. I see some fan loved characters with lots of potential range be explored. Obvious one is Martian Manhunter - non mainstream enough and underexplored. I also suspect Ezra Miller will be retained if the serious charges are resolved and if The Flash is as good as early indications suggest. Think Swamp Thing will get more opportunities. Lots of $ will be flowing and focus will be on movies not streaming content until post release. WB has trimmed their non core aggressively. This is partly to redirect massive spend towards their valuable IP that has been woefully underutilized. |
