I dont wanna say it but, MVS is gone so, there is that and moving on...
i think i still have a nice book No surprises on the back or inside ( other than MVS neatly cut out)

I know you need better pics but i think no less than a 4.0 and MAYBE better >??

Most likely a green lable, but, i have seen SOME blue lable no MVS.
I wonder what classifies one as blue lable and one as green >?

..ya ..pretty stoked

i know a missing removable insert does deducts pts off grade. I have an Uncanny xmen #282 (first appearance of bishop) I got here. member said missing an insert as well and advised dont get graded unless I dont care

Purple label means the book has some restoration on it. If there's no resto, you're more likely to get a green label (assuming CGC) with a grade reflecting the condition of the book that doesn't take into account the missing MVS, or a blue label with a sad grade indicating that a piece of the book is missing, just like what @CoalTiger said. IMHO, the green label is your best-case scenario. Remember: CBCS does NOT have a green 'qualified' label. If you are hoping for that. you'll need to submit to CGC.

TBH, either of those is gunna work out to be around $2500 ( imo) unless this book comes back with better than a 6.0 green lable ...imo

I thought with CGC you get to choose Green vs. Blue on a missing MVS or non-witnessed signature? Is that not the case?

When I've had a green-label book come back to me, it was never a choice. I just got it that way and didn't find out it had a green label until the book had shipped.

I happened to know this one had advertisement pages missing and I was very happy to see the green label.

Green Label should be known as "gift grade". Not that I'm opposed to it. I like having an option that grades the remaining book instead of just grading based on what is missing.

When the rest of the book is nice aside from that one glaring defect, I think the 'qualified' grade is a nice option. As long as everyone knows what it means and the qualified defect is clearly listed on the label, I don't see a problem with it. Face it, it's not entirely fair to give a very nice-looking book the same rubbish grade as a tattered rag because the MVS is missing. The grades cease to have meaning when you can put a lovely book next to a hot mess and claim they're the exact same grade thanks to something that cannot be seen.

Then someone overpaid for a green label or someone got a wildly good deal on a blue label.

I think it depends on what's missing. If the story is affected.
There are definitely blue label MMVS.
I don't think I've ever seen a blue label missing pages.

One or the other for sure! Maybe someone didn't know what the green label meant? That someone will be in for a surprise one of these days...

I have, but it was a book so thrashed that it was getting a 0.5 regardless of intact pages.

I don’t see your examples. I do see some odd sales of green labels very close to blue labels. Closer than I think most would expect.

Will say the price gaps are odd, especially as the price of IH181 has fallen a lot over the past year. I don’t know why someone would pay so close to complete book prices for an incomplete, very common book… should be no fomo and more foop today. Odd.

I am guessing Ih181 has a lot of uninformed buyers for its price point and trades so heavily that you will see more irrational purchases (in total).

I thinnk @CoalTiger meant a 0.5 in a blue label since it is incomplete.

Interesting that the examples shown by @Sigur_Ros indicate that it is not an automatic 0.5 for incomplete. Over the years, CGC has had some inconsistencies regarding how they classify green or blue, and what grades can be attained. It may depend on what is missing that makes it incomplete. It's a mystery, which is never the ideal situation. You want to know what to expect when you pay for a service, not be guessing.

I have seen posts from CGC moderators that say you can choose between low grade blue and evident grade green, but also posts from moderators that say the grader decides and the consumer cannot direct the type of label. Maybe someone has better info, or actual firsthand experience.

It would be nice to know if you can request a green label. If so, I've got a couple of books to send in.
