I have 7 very expensive books stuck in shipping. They have been there for 3.5 weeks.

Avengers 1, Tales to Astonish 1; and Golden Age Sub-Mariner 1, Young Allies 1, etc.

Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get these thing out of Shipping? How hard is it to put these guys in a box and send them home?

CBCS charged me $80 a book...I can't say I'm happy.

You folks who have waited over a year...I just can't imagine what that is like.

If you go to your dashboard, maybe there is more detailed information if you click on the invoice and view the PDF. It's also possible one or several of your golden age books were determined to be above the $5000 FMV limit and CBCS is waiting for you to pay the extra grading fees, which can also be accessed under your dashboard. There should be somewhere to click that says "Billing" which will take you to a screen to authorize additional charges.

Those are some amazing books! I hope you share photos of the 5 mentioned and the mystery "etc." comics once you receive them back.

So, here is everything I have out. I did get an email back and it said TATs were at one year now. Even though when quite a few of these were turned it it was only 12 to 16 weeks.
Since Steve left...

@flanders

Thanks for the tip! I tried looking at the invoice and there isn't any additional info (at least yet).

The other two books are Mystic Comics 1 (1940), and Tough Kids Squad Comics 1.

I will post them...IF, I ever see them again (lol and sobs)...

What gets me is that when a lot of our orders were submitted, the TAT was posted. My early ones were posted as 16 - 20 weeks. That's acceptable. I sent them in under the guise that in 3 to 4 months I would be receiving my order back. Then when the time is changed to 52 weeks or longer, due to what I can only speculate as "poor order management", there is nothing said. No, "we're sorry"...""here's a discount"..."suck it up buttercup"...nothing.
Why are small orders put in after a lot of these going through when older orders are just pushed to the side? Process the books through in order that they are received, not by what is convenient to grade and quickest.
My two cents...back to waiting impatiently like everyone else.

This is really really really really strange:
I submitted Drigenberg Sandman books at Baltimore Comicon (Oct 28 - Oct 30)
I opted for standard grading & standard pressing; knowing full well of the awful wait I opted into.
Books were entered into the system Nov 8th
And the crazy thing - they all just went into Pressing???!!!
WTH?

I am seriously confused.
And I mean seriously confused.

I guess CBCS uses the Supply Chain term LIFO (Last-In; First-out)

@Nuffsaid111 well, there's a whole pressing TAT thread for that. Ricketts just said they finished last November, which is less than 490 days, and of course they expect to speed up with their recent changes kicking in. So I don't see why not.

Here's my experience on my very first grading submission to CBCS:

When submitted, TAT showed 14 weeks for pressing , 14 weeks for grading.

Standard, Modern
Delivered to CBCS (tracking showed) 10/14/21
Received CBCS showed 11/29/21
"Pressing" 11/29/21
Pressed 10/4/2022
Graded 11/1/2022
"In production" email received that books were being heat sealed, etc 11/11/2022
Shipped 11/14/2022.

Well this was just posted 20 minutes ago.
I'm not sure why the TAT page has not been updated yet; but I'll assume that the Instagram post is more accurate since it's more recent.
Or is it just the Vintage+ and they forgot that little "+" sign on the Instagram post?
Things looking up?

Maybe, we'll see if we can get an update to the turnaround times on the site one of these days. It could be that they've noticed the turnaround times at CGC, decided they can't compete with the modern tier at an astonishing 20 business days, and decided they could get more business by speeding their vintage tiers up.

Hopefully things are getting better across all tiers and they haven't tried to focus on the vintage tier at the cost of slowing down other tiers even more.

@Nuffsaid111 @flanders @Nearmint67 - And interestingly (to me anyway) when I made some new non-express submission entries last week for some copper and chrome age comics with press, the cart reflected 72 week estimated TAT's. That coincidently is the longest of what my recently completed submissions have clock in at. So, I am still a firm believer that the main page TAT estimates are either a function of somebody errantly calculating week by an errant 7 business day work week instead of a 5 business day work week or it remains a 'let's leave it artificially high to underpromise and out preform for new submissions' effort.

Update on my situation. To recap, I had 2,243 modern pre-screen books over several orders with the oldest from 8/23/2021. Early September, I asked CBCS via voicemail to cancel all the orders except the oldest that was in "Heatseal". Customer Service called me two weeks later wanting to confirm that I wanted to cancel the order and then the Southeast Regional rep emailed wanting to confirm. I confirmed to both the CS rep and the regional rep that I wanted to cancel. Since then it has been crickets as far as communication is concerned.

But now the three oldest orders have been completed and I have received them. 270 books on the oldest, 37 books with pressing and press screening on the next one and then 210 books on the one dated 9/26/2021. Fortunately, I have gotten enough product from the other guys and now CBCS that I am now internally debating on whether to push to get the other orders canceled. CBCS just notified me that grading is completed for the next oldest order - from 11/5/2021 - and should be shipping soon.

What I hope like crazy is that I didn't jump in front of anybody by wanting to cancel orders - hopefully, my orders just came up in the queue as they were certainly old enough. Probably will never know.

Anyway, I'm down from 2,243 books to 1,726 books in the system. Won't be submitting anymore to CBCS until ALL the orders are processed AND TATs for moderns are down to 40 days.

Here's an interesting update I received from customer service for one of my three orders:

A reholder is in the grading room. When this book was initially submitted for VSR and grading, it had three signatures on it. When I received it back only two of the signatures were listed on the label, but it was a yellow label with a 9.8 grade.

I contacted customer service and they said to send it back for relabel/reholder. It now shows verified and all three signatures show when I checked the online order.

Now, if only the other 7 non-VSR books of the order are being graded... Have my doubts because the notification with the order # was tagged with an "RH" appended to it which I assume means "reholder."

You would hope the same tiers would grade based on order of received, but that's clearly not the case. They are grading books received from February now though, so hopefully at least my first submission will be soon.

I think it's a scam that I can send books in with a promised TAT and then get my books pushed to the back on the line everytime someone pays extra to skip ahead. If you say something is going to take 24 weeks then you should make sure it does. I paid almost $800 for pressing/grading with a promised TAT that means nothing. Where is the loyalty? Why would I come back after getting ignored for a year and being lied to? I will never waste money on having CBCS press a book again. One of the books I sent in is worthless now bc it took longer than I was promised when I submitted it. And it sucks that I had to ask in a public forum to finally get a response to where my books are. I emailed I don't know how many times and never got anything back, (except for mass-emails begging me to submit more books for overpriced signatures from actors) then I ask in the forum and suddenly, the next day I get 4 emails saying my books are done with pressing and are in the grading room. Again, with no mention of when I'll get them back. I know I'm not the only one bc there are 1000s of posts complaining abt the same thing. If cbcs ever wants to be where cgc is this has got to change.

I thought my books were isolated in their delay (April 2022), reading this thread makes me sad. I collect moderns so the values aren't high (like golden or silver age) but still this TAT seems concerning no matter the book. As the year goes and CBCS receives more and more books, at what point do they push to get the sitting inventory out the door? I wish at this point, that books they've had for 8 months are more had to be graded free and shipped within the year of submission.

Wouldn't that be grand? But alas, it will never happen.
A long haired hippie friend of mine once told me you have to get the wheel moving. If you can send books in each month or even every other month, eventually you start to get books back every month.

A person could always opt to take a chance with CGC and hope you get a nice grade in a holder without those newton ring things, rather quickly. Or a person could do a grade pre-screen with CBCS, and get the grade they want (if you know how to grade) in the industry leading holder.

I prefer to have the ability to have a grade screen so I can get that 9.6 or 9.8 I want. And if it doesn't meet that grade, I will pay the 4.00 fee. Even if it takes a year or more.

Some folks are not as patient and I understand the frustration of having to wait so long.
It is a preference for me to have the best available product on the market. And for me, that's CBCS.
