Pasta aglio e olio. Or garlic and oil, just sounds better in Italian.

Yum. I’ve made this countless times, many variations. All incredibly easy and tasty.

Oliebollen (oil balls) variations last weekend. Progenitors to donuts but quick to make and just as tasty. Usually with confectioners’ sugar but I glazed them this time. Delicious.

@Davethebrave If you haven't yet had it with the Truffle seasoning, I recommend it. That hint of mushroom flavor or whatever it is, is really addicting. I've made 3 large batches in the last week. Been eating it hot or cold. But I think it really improves with something salty like fresh bacon pieces or maybe diced and fried ham.

Did some Instant Pot experimenting today. Browned 2 pounds pork shoulder in a pan, put a little Avocado oil and minced garlic on bottom of the Instant Pot. Combined Tomatillo sauce with El Pato hot tomato sauce, pressure cooked for one hour. Meat didn't have a real distinct flavor so I added half a packet of taco seasoning and that did the trick. Burritos with cheese and refried beans.

Savory scone. Amazing.

Yes, there is bacon in it.

No it didn’t last more than 30 seconds.

Kept it simple, filet mignon with fries and mushrooms.

Basted in a garlic & onion butter sauce, after a nice sear on the simply seasoned (salt/pepper) steak. Then used that to cook the mushrooms in.

Cooked med-rare/rare for the adults while the kids got medium. Paired with pinot noir (for the adults).

At a decent steakhouse, $250+ meal but with a less flavorful, less perfectly cooked steak. Total cost for the at-home version? Roughly $50 including the $15 bottle of wine.

Made this delicious salad for lunch today.
It has romaine, pepper jack cheese, colby cheese, blackened turkey meat, cucumbers, red bell pepper, onion and jalepeno. Added a dash of Greek vinaigrette to it.

@HeinzDad near as I can tell the outside temp is key!
Supposedly needs to be below 10 or 42 in funny numbers!! today was -2 for me (20something?)

I just have one of those pellet maze things..light it up an put that on one side and the cheese on the other in my BBQ...seems to work well enough with no melting!

easy peasey!!
this self cleaning trick will remove EVERYTHING that was cooked onto a pan
let cool!!!

I'll wash then dry and heat gently to make sure no moisture - then rub a thin film of a neutral oil (veg oil) basically rub it on then rub it off like you didn't mean to put it on!!
then into a 450 oven for an hour (upside down so no pooling) - let cool and repeat - 3 or 4 times??
then the pan is 'seasoned' and will be as non-stick as any modern pan
trick is to not wash with soap - use hot water to loosen bits - clean with a wash cloth - once in a while rub a bit of oil on to keep the seasoning - I've gone off teflon and back to cast iron and stainless, or ceramic coated cast iron - as long as you treat them right and heat them right, when cooking it's as good as teflon without weird chemical particles making it into my body - plus -I'm cheap/frugal - these pans were old family pans and will outlive me, my son and any future generations!!(also works on induction tops!!)

wow - just realized I've gone a bit retro with my cooking too!!

so
using fountain pens (older than me) - check
shave with double edge razors (older than me) - check!
cook with cookware (older than me) - check!!
drive a manual/stick shift - check!!! (but a newer car - couldn't imagine driving a early 70's car!)

Side benefit of iron skillets, the iron leeches into your food. Gives you a slight iron supplement.

Chili - deeply, deliciously flavored. Amped up the heat for the adults. Freshly baked bread for dipping.
