AWESOME experience though. Day one she was in civilian attire, Day 2 she went full Elvira. She was smart. She got everyone's photo ops in her regular attire, then people went back day 2 to get photo ops in her Elvira costume.

This will be the third time I will meet her but I never got to do so when she was in character.

That had to be a lot of fun to see up close.

Anyone take a look at the exclusives?

A few look interesting but not sure which are going to be the really hard ones to get that I should try for first.

Comicsketchart has a couple of nice exclusives. That said, now even the buy-ins are high for convention exclusives. For years they were $5 & $10 and flippers like myself were getting the most out of the work being put in to target these. Then folks started getting smart and charging more and cutting into my profits. I saw the Ottley Invincible 19's which are quite cool are an ungodly amount for the buy-in price, so whereas I was initially targeting them, I'm not now. Just too damn expensive.

In the end, I'm just going to go to the Marvel booth with their exclusives. They're at least reasonable with their buy-in price in today's big convention market scene.

Edit: I just did a little more hunting around of NYCC exclusives. With very tepid interest I saw Vault Comics had a limited to 100 copies Nightfall 68pg exclusive. Something that in the "old days" I would target. A small publisher like Vault years ago would probably put the buy-in at maybe $25 - $30? (Just a guess). The freakin comic is $100! Yea - ahhhhh.... not happening!

Here's the page on Bleeding Cool detailing the top 15 NYCC exclusives:
https://bleedingcool.com/comics/15-of-the-hottest-nycc-comics-items-to-grab-at-new-york-comic-con/

I know it's a longshot, but would anyone going like to help out a die-hard Miracleman fan? I'll pay for shipping and whatever the book itself costs, plus a $15 service fee, if someone is willing to pick this up for me:
Attend MARVEL COMICS: MARVEL FANFARE panel on Friday, for a color-focussed sketch variant cover of Miracleman #0. a-kind one-shot cover

Day 1 is a wrap. Picketed for Bad Idea to score a free comic. Dinesh is awesome as always. They have their marketing down. Pay people minimum wage (a comic) to walk around the floor for an hour with a picket sign promoting Bad Idea.

Funko was a nightmare. I was in the 3pm reservation slot and once inside everything but 4 funkos were sold out. Obviously there were plenty of Aguaman. Funko tried to sell off Funkos in damage boxes. They had to turn back people who had a 4pm reservation. Not sure if there was a 5pm reservation.

I feel like artist alley was packed with more talent than normal.

Lastly RIP Kim Jung Gi. He unfortunately passed way to soon on his way from Korea to NYC. If you have the time just watch some youtube videos on how this guy drew. A true master.

Day 2 is a wrap. Was lucky enough to secure a reservation to the Todd McFarlane signing at CGC's booth. It saved me $150 plus shipping for his mail in event.

Went to his Spawn/Batman panel with Jim Lee & Greg Capullo later that day. They showed every cover but Jim and Todd's. They joked about playing rock paper scissor to see who goes first because they want to one up the other.

Also went to the Frank Miller Presents: Ancient Enemies panel with Dan DiDio.

They gave out this ashcan:

It's different in cover only from the one below I got from Midtown when the ashcan first came out

Lastly the only con exclusive I bought because the con exclusive prices are getting out of control. It reminded me of his infamous Tec Joker cover:

Ended the night previewing Violent Night starring David Harbour(stranger things) & John Leguizamo. Hilarious, ultra violent christmas movie. It's done by some of the guys responsible for John Wick. It definitely has its fingerprint on the film.

Note: The ashcan is the 2nd printing they handed out at the panel

@Nuffsaid111 good to know. I wasnt sure if they flipped it for NYCC or simply they put Ancient Enemies on top because that was the panel.

I'm excited that they are printing on newsprint. It felt and smelt like a comic. I'm pulling for them.

My one big "get" at NYCC.
Made a rookie mistake of not having a completely separate area for Michael J. Fox to sign. He overlapped Christopher Lloyd's signature a bit.

Aside from that I have to say the Michael J. Fox signing was the single most depressing autograph session since the end of Stan Lee's days when they just put stuff down in front of guy like a rapid assembly line with zero interaction with anyone. Not even 1 second. I honestly felt like Michael was being abused and am inclined to write to someone somewhere about the entire experience as it was awful. He looked good; but signing like a machine without an ability to even look up; and with his condition, is seriously questionable and not one I'll ever partake in again with him now that I know.

Even the CBCS witness was appalled that I was with. (Side note: those guys at the CBCS table are always just the best! Seriously the best. Friendliest, nicest guys ever. Kudos to them)

Side note 2: Chris Lloyd is a hoot!

Line was really long but was moving so fast. I had a feeling I knew why. Honestly I'd rather stand in line longer and have that 30 seconds of fame like last year with hayden christiansen. A memory. This was not a good memory and worse was borderline abuse imo

Just got home from day four.

Got some exclusives Thursday morning and saw two panels that night.

Otherwise spent all four days getting signatures.

I think I got about five short boxes signed up over the last four days.

Here are some highlights:

Todd McFarlane
Frank Miller
Kevin Eastman
Peach momoko
Greg Capullo
Scott Snyder
Chris Claremont
Marc Silvestri

Also got remarks from Mark Texiera and Joe Rubenstein

Was not there Sunday, but Friday lines were long at her a midtown booth (limit of 5 sigs) and her artist alley booth.

Did not realize the sigs were free or would have brought a couple books.

Probably going to never have that opportunity again. Thanks to all the greedy comic book guy bastards.

All I remember was her lines being super long and seeing a caravan of short boxes and carry on luggage.

What happened is the reason why in the past, you had to get wrist bands for the McFarlane signing, they allowed 3 items max and you couldnt be an exhibitor (and there was another badge you couldnt have) in order to get a wrist band. His aim was for fans to be the first ones able to get the wristbands.

Shes new to this she will figure it out.

@Bronte Wow. That's a shame. CGC had her signing too for signature series, but by the time i found out, I was too late. She's a signature and remark i want to get... someday...

If she wanted it only for the fans, she should have limited it to 1 comic per person.

If she wanted to limit it to fans, then she should have limited it to one book and let it be known that what she signed would be personalized with the owner’s name. Flippers hate anything that is personalized as it is much harder to sell and drops the resale value . A fan wouldn’t have cared.

There is a percentage of jackass savages in every walk of life that ruin things for everyone else.
The word "free" exposes them and makes it so that free never happens again.
They just don't care about their behavior. Cheat the system, to hell with others, and then Take take take is what they understand.

Probably wouldn't have happened if she charged $50 per signature. But then we'd get the parade of people complaining about how they used to be free.
