I also use USPS priority mail to ship to CBCS or to someone that buys or trades comics with me. The flat rate medium 2-day priority mail is $13.45, and you have to pay extra for insurance (it only comes with $50 included at the base price). There is also a medium 2-day priority mail non-flat rate box (sometimes called a shirt box) that is just a little smaller than the flat rate box. You have to ask for it at the counter, but they will be glad to give you several if you ask them. The flat rate boxes are on a display so just grab them when you need them. If your package only contains a few comics and is not traveling long distances, you can save a couple of dollars using the non-flat rate box. I always put the comics in a box or Gemini holder first, then bubble wrap that box before placing it into the USPS box. There should be no movement of any of the contents. When shipping a stack of valuable comics to CBCS, I have also added extra protection in the form of an extra internal layer of cardboard. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the input. Makes sense.

And return shipping from CBCS is based on a set price?

@jrs
I send books to CBCS via USPS Priority Mail. I usually have FedEx bring them back. USPS Registered Mail tends to sit at the post office for an extra 4 days before making its way back to me.

@Despain
Cool, thank you. I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy it because I didn't know if the sticker was part of it or like how Neal Adams will slap a sticker on a book hr signs. If the store still has it, I may pick it up this weekend.

Thanks for the info. So I just checked my email from CBCS regarding the discount and it says:

"Holiday discount is not offered on dealer or membership priced submissions"

I was thinking of signing up for a bronze membership, but does this mean that the 20 percent discount is NOT applied to bronze (or other) member prices?

My sense based on everyone's postings is that the discount is applied to whatever your membership level is, but the email I received leads me to believe otherwise.

Thanks again for all of the input. Very useful.

Not sure what you are talking about. Is there a 20% discount offer going on right now?

Right now I am packing up another 14 SA comics to ship tomorrow (on Friday the 13th!) to take advantage of the discount one more time. It takes me over an hour to pack up books: double-boxed, lots of bubble-wrap, extra cardboard, and even little air bags.

Because of shipping expenses, I think the best number of books to ship is either 10 or 14/15. What do you guys think?

So there's no coupon code...they apply the discount when they charge you? Just have to have it in the mail by 1/13?

Today is the last day to ship it off to receive the discount. Has to be postmarked by today. All submissions are 20% off. Only submissions not membership fees like I believe @jrs is asking about.

Agreed. The main reason why I dont use fastpass or have a subscription is the shipping costs. If I submit books and a few are done before the others, shipping doubles. Its either all or nothing for me with the faster options

I sent in:

- 7 (out of 21😆) of my best looking Justice League #31 with 9.6 grade screen
- 1 JL 31 variant 9.6 screen
- 2 JL #50 with 9.8 grade screen

REALLY hoping one of these comes back 9.9 but I wont hold my breath on that 😁 Wish my pile of key books came back from the pancake factory in time so I could submit them, but oh well.

20% discount sure is sweet 👌🏻

Based on the order I submitted last week, even though I am a bronze member, the 20% discount is still applied, but to the non-member cost. So you save roughly another 10%. Just write "apply 20% special discount" on the invoice that you print and include with your order.

Another thing that you should be aware of is that although the discounted price was charged to my credit card, as of yesterday the invoice that is accessible from my CBCS Dashboard does not reflect the discounted price, and even has a mysterious "fee" of $48 on it. This is not the first time that the invoice and charges to my credit card account have not been the same. Always check your credit card account and contact customer service if you feel you have been over-billed.

Make sure if sending USPS that they scan it as soon as you give it to them so it's officially scanned for today. Sometime USPS does not scan till the next day or when till they are actually shipping it out of the office.

I sent my books in as soon as I heard about the 20% discount .. my books are at CBCS right now (arrived (I think) yesterday, but USPS says they're still at Kennedy NY .. no movement since 6th January) .. I imagine I'll get that 20% applied when everything's ready to be charged

That post office gods smiled down upon me and kept the office open specifically to allow me to mail my package to CBCS. So kudos to them.

We shall see. First batch of books off and I've got quite the variety of silver age in there, from Journey Into Mystery 112 to Marvel Tales Annual 1. The 20% discount sealed the deal for me.

I seriously have no idea how these books are going to grade and didn't grade screen. My thought is however it works out is however it works out.

I don't see the real value in grade screening personally. You paid all this $ to send them down and ship them back...after screening fees you might save $10 per book...but I'd rather spend the $10 and have them encapsulated/preserved. And I can move it much easier on eBay regardless of the grade and make back that $10 easy...an encapsulated book nearly always sells for $10 higher than the same grade just bagged. my experience. Plus they just look so nice in the holders!

@Drogio, I tend to agree, although I am completely unsure of how certain of my books will grade.

I submitted an FF49 with a small tape pull (I bought it like that), but an otherwise nice book. I also submitted a few other books with some minor issues, but tried to stay away from sending anything that had visible imperfections that I believed could be remedied by pressing (mostly because I'm not sure I want to have anything pressed yet).

Grade Screening could have allowed me to simply reject stabbing if the books didn't meet my criteria, but I figured it takes the fun out of the process -- at least for my first submission.

Submitted 5 comics post marked 1/13. So far they have not applied my discount. I asked the to add pressing to my order (2 comics) and without telling me they split up my order..so I'm not sure that this disqualified me because now I have less than 5 comics on two invoices...plus I'm now getting charged double the shipping because I have two separate invoices. Anyone else having issues with this 20% offer?
