Well, this episode was definitely slower. I still enjoyed it though, especially the dwarves scenes.

If they conclude the season without reviling the identity of the Stranger, then I might just have a come apart.

Twin Peaks? I agree. I still haven't seen the new one, which is several years old at this point.

How can they say Galadriel's husband Celeborn died fighting orcs? We know they both ruled Lothlórien in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Is this a prequel to the Lord of the Rings or is it just a story set in a similar fantasy setting? How can they expect us to be concerned for the well being of Isildur when we know he can't die? He has to be around to cut the ring from Sauron's hand. It seems to me the story they are telling is almost completely unrelated to the recorded history of the 2nd and 3rd ages of middle-earth. Probably means I care more than a normal person would or should. Oh well.

Exactly my issue with the whole series.

Maybe she just thought he died and he will pop up somewhere in what appears to be a long, drawn-out chain of events.

I thought the same thing about Isildur. You know he isn't dead, so who cares if he's missing?

Looks as if their brand of storytelling is like trying to fill a five pound bag with one pound of sugar... And slowly at that.

They(Amazon),paid a lot of money for the movie/TV rights to stories they can only half tell and their target audience has memorized. This is as good as it’s going to get.. Perfect fit for the times we’re living in..

I struggled through that last episode. I think I'll spend triple the time I've wasted on this series by trying to read the LOTR trilogy for the first time. I'm sure it will be more enjoyable, even though I've already seen the films.

@flanders The books have a lot of content that was skipped over to make them fit into a films. They seriously could have made a trilogy for each of the LotR books.

I do feel that Jackson dropped the ball on the Hobbit films, though. There were many cringeworthy scenes, which was not the case with the LotR series. The only complaint I had with LotR was the mountain of story, characters, and scenes that were missing.

That said, the Hobbit films are Academy Award worthy compared to the garbage Amazon is shoveling out.

I thought the finale was decent. The reveals weren't all that surprising. Overall, I enjoyed this season, but I doubt I'll watch the whole season again.

Probably after she falls in love and has sex with Sauron. Either him or someone very much like her.

I'm guessing Amazon is telling the story from the pretense of the viewer not knowing or having read the books. It seems in most adaptations that straying from the source material is a common thing. In fact, when the adaptation is faithful we're all surprised.

Just finished it. Best episode of the series. I was suddenly struck as to how female driven the series actually is. The Stranger is in fact a wizard, albeit still unnamed. No surprise on Sauron. No real surprises. Thoroughly entertaining episode, but it took long enough to get there. At least we end with some actual rings to look at.

I just want to go on record as being correct about everything.

The least shitty episode, though I'll never watch any episode of this show more than the one time in my life. I watch the extended versions of LotR once every two to three months.

I also want to point out what a horrible score this series has. It's like they're using the Adobe stock library. I've heard better scores on weekly podcasts.

The worst line of dialogue in the entire series, "I'm good!" It would have been better if he had said nothing.

There's a long list of horrible quotes from this series.

Do you know why a ship floats and a rock sinks? (Or whatever nonsense this was.)

Nobody goes off trail. Nobody walks alone. (6,000 times because they want to make sure you understand it.)

There was another a few episodes ago that made my eyes roll into the back of my skull but my mind has gone blank and I refuse to go back and watch it again.

Give me a billion dollars to make a series about Middle Earth. I'd hire the best writers money could buy. I'd hire a couple of Tolkien scholars to work with the writers. I'd hire an amazing composer to write the legendary score. Then I'd hire a showrunner with a passion for the story and a track record of successful productions. The rest would be under the control of this hand picked team. None of the things I just listed were done...with a BILLION DOLLARS... Inconceivable!
