I have posted this elsewhere and am reasonably convinced CGC would Green Label a comic with a label placed over the Direct barcode. I've seen similar placed exterior newsstand labels placed on books that have gotten green CGC labels with the notation "sticker attached to front cover". But I'm curious what CBCS would do since there is no CBCS Green label PLUS as far as I'm aware there are valid newsstand editions with a label placed over the Direct edition. Anyone have any experience? Data is very difficult to find with CBCS |

My guess would be that a 3rd party grader has data on what books would have been officially circulated this way, but I don’t know.

The Allegiance Arts comics that came out a couple years ago (Red Rooster, Norah’s Saga, Futurists, Bass Reeves, etc) that were mostly, maybe even only, distributed via Walmart were entirely (to the best of my knowledge) victim to the UPC sticker issue. So I’d also like to know how they are or would be treated.

I had a price sticker like that on a comic. It would be a grade hit. I had a presser remove the sticker but I still got a bit of a hit for residue.

Superman #75 (2nd print) is the only book that I am aware of that has had a newsstand UPC sticker applied to the cover of a direct edition 2nd print by the publisher in order for a 2nd print to be sold via newsstand distribution. The UPC sticker has the printers' ID number on the code which IIRC is Curtis Publishing. Tough book to find, I have a copy; took me 2 years to find one off eBay. That said, Rockmyamadeus on the CGC forum would be the guy to ask this question to, IMO. |

For $20 and a only year wait, I might just submit it anyway and see what CBCS does with the book. Just researching this kind of thing as much as I have, is not worth $20 of my time. Let the experts rule like on everything else When I get it back I'll see if it starts LabelGate |
