Great Canadian Grading GCG18214

Where's his Bat-package? Byrdibyrd private msg quote post Address this user
@Davethebrave
I'd be very interested to see a serious candidate for another third-party grader enter the market, but it'll take more than nice-looking labels and a dodgy website before I'll submit anything at all.

A legit 3rd Third Party Grader would be ideal.

There will never be a "legit" 3rd party grader. Soon as an upstart begins, CBCS and CGC forums riddle them with bullets. Given the glaring issues with both established companies, it takes a lot of nerve to cast aspersions at new businesses.

Midwest Comic Grading will be the future of third party grading.

Competition and capacity are certainly welcome.

CBCS & CGC are 3rd-party graders. That's what the service they perform is called. It will be difficult for a THIRD 3rd-party grader to break into the market - no argument there - but not impossible, especially not when CGC just left itself open to A Lot of legit criticism thanks to Acetate Gate. Right now would be an ideal time for someone else to give it a try.

LOL! That's what I meant but I think you knew that. When we started our business, we looked at the mistakes others had made/were still making and determined to avoid them. And made our own mistakes, of course.

Even these who we see as "dodgy" should be given a chance to get fine tuned. I have to imagine most - if not all - are earnest about it at least in the beginning. Why go to the expense and aggravation of beginning a business like that just to suck out loud at it?

Only thing CGC should take issue with is the accurate grading and quality control of their own end product.

Everyone does exactly that, which is why we should cut new businesses some slack. If questionable practices continue even after problems have been pointed out, that's when I consider taking my $$$ elsewhere.

Oh yeah, CGC has some housecleaning to do before they get to point fingers at anyone else, but if they do have a problem with the GCG initials - which really do look like they're there to capitalize off the notoriety of CGC - then I'm fine with that.

I noticed that too but I'm pretty sure that's how they're encapsulated.
The top edge of the sleeve looks to be behind the label.

Which brings up another question: Is the label inside the case or is it just sitting on top of the bag flap and they're both outside the case? Take a look, because it seems to me that the seam separating the label section of the case from the book capsule is being covered up by the label. If the label were in the label section of the case, that seam would be below the label and easily visible.

There's room in the hobby for at least 3 legitimate grading companies. Up to 5 might be viable if they couls differentiate the product somehow. When you consider all the facets required for success and legitimacy, I'm not certain we even have one.

I would be thrilled to see a third 3rd-party grader that develops and retains a good reputation.

Maybe this is the source of their encapsulation problem 🤔

Subject: Update on Graded Comic Book Auction

Hello!

This is an update on the "Graded Comic Book Auction".
Unfortunately, the inserts we had did not fit the comic books in stock. We have ordered new ones and are awaiting their arrival in order to properly seal the comics.
This auction will happen, but we wanted to inform you of the delay.
Should be around 3 weeks away.
We will send out a notification to you one week prior to the auction's launch date.

Thank you for your patience!

Hope to see you bid in the future.

Lol, that’s one of those learning experiences that is not obvious to an outsider. I think CBCS said they have something like 12 different sized inserts.
