Back with my latest finds from over the last few days. I took a break from buying a few weeks ago but I was really jonesin and needed a fix.

A new 2nd N Charles opened up in the Detroit Metro area and I figured it would be a great opportunity for some stealth buys.I Picked up a few books there and then stopped at the local flea on the way home

Picked up this limited print.

Scoured the comic bins for a few decent finds.Anything worth a damn, I snagged. Would not recommend digging there for awhile.

The next few books came from the local flea. Stopped by on a whim and it paid off. I cant get enough of vintage paper stuff like this, you just dont see this kind of stuff out in the wild.

Absolutely love that American flag cover on the Flying Aces.

Hey Maverick, you have some real nice finds. Sounds like we live in the same area. I am in Brighton ,MI. Unfortunately I have not had much luck in the wild in awhile. If I do, I will post them here.

Hey Brian. Mid Michigan can be tough for finding books. Almost all of my finds have been in the Detroit metro area. I used to travel around the state and chase books but it just got old real quick. I know of nerdageddon out that way and a few craigslist sellers that are in your area but not much else.

If you stalk the craigslist postings like 10 times a day you'll find something. If you're looking to take a trip, Lansing and Livonia are areas Ive had good luck in.

I love seeing other peoples hauls so please feel free to share.

Thanks. I will have to look harder. I have a pull list with Nerdageddon. I have had most of my luck from other people that know I am into comic books and then them knowing someone with books to sell. I do check Craigslist but usually nothing too exciting or they are asking a ton of money.I saw one on there the other day and it was a like 40 long boxes but he wanted $6000. I will post here the next chance that I find something cool.

New pickup today. Not really sure about it. At first I thought it was Walt Flanagan but the more I looked around at his signatures, im not so sure.

Anybody have a s/s book with his sig or know where this sketch might have come from?

Back in 1987 in Robertsdale, Alabama at a flea market, I found a run of ASM 1-17. I paid $550. Sold them a month later for $1200.
On the outside, they looked awesome! But the pages were brown and almost brittle.😮😮
Can anything be done nowadays to help?

@SilverAgeFan lifted the following info from a comic restoration/conservation site. "Extremely brittle paper cannot be restored. Slightly brittle pages can be conserved, but we must evaluate any brittle books beforehand to determine their feasibility."

Batman: The Widening Gyre was a limited series written by Kevin Smith and illustrated by Walt Flanagan that came out in 2009-2010. So I'd say it's probably Flanagan's signature.

@DarthLego, Thanks Darth! They'd been kept by the original owner so when the guy told me about them and his price, I broke out in a cold sweat!! Then, when he brought them out and I saw them, my heart sank. They'd been kept in his basement since the early 60's, in the heat and humidity of the Gulf Coast.

That does not look like Walt Flanagan. I have no idea who that could be. I think it's just a possession name sign.

Picked up quite a few books this week, way more than usual. Mostly dollar bin stuff with two sweet ebay deals. Ill start with the cheap stuff first.

A few low grade silvers. Sure why not.

Some limited dynamic forces books.

A few minor keys also.

The next few are from an ebay pickup. I find it very difficult to find deals on ebay but I had to jump on this one. Lot of 57 House of Secrets books. Mid grade mostly. A little lower on the early issues, with a few outliers. The media mail bandit struck again.

Found these at our local Antique Mall some years ago. The Marx statues had one price tag ($20) tied to Cap. I don't know if the seller intended it to be $20 each, but I got all six for the low price.

I paid $25 for the Mutt & Jeff.

Why do I feel like I posted this here already?

@MR_SigS What would something like those go for? I never really followed the toy market.

Collector MR_SigS private msg quote post Address this user
@Maverick I've seen prices all over the place. A toy "price guide" I bought a few years back said they're $20 each. I've seen some on eBay go for less, so I'm thinking many have hit the market somewhat recently. I've seen orange and blue versions as well.
I may be biased... No, I'm biased, but I think the red ones look best.
