@Nearmint67

Last time I got the pressing charges reversed. We shall see about this time. I would prefer they just do the job we paid for though.

So. I got my books back and the graders notes say light bends and moderate bends on 2 books. I emailed cgc asking if they pressed my books. They said return them for complementary pressing. So I sent back all the books except for the 9.8s.

Although the process is extremely simple and the email was polite, I wish they just did it right to begin with.

@Nuffsaid111 think it’s too much of a premium. I guess you could call it a remark? But maybe $1500 at the most?

Agreed that CGC should have done it right the first time but if/when a situation arises, this is exactly how it should be rectified....a client inquiry acknowledged and addressed in a timely manner.

Seller perspective:
I've given up trying to assess a rational value of unique items in the last 10 years.
4500 is crazy amount; but there might be that crazy person/people out there that thinks 4500 is a deal; or just has good money to blow. All you need is 1 person.

As a Buyer/Collector:
Personally - I don't get it at all. I could purchase 2 ... yes 2 original Joe Jusko Marvel Masterpiece PAINTINGS for the same price of this book where McFarlane spent... what... perhaps 30 seconds with the remarque.
2 Jusko paintings vs. a 30 second McFarlane remarque. Yea - $4500 just makes zero sense to me.

It's a strange kind of irony when an artist's work becomes so widely appreciated that they now spend half their life signing their name...because that's where the big money is.

Very rough estimates:
CGC fees were $120. Let's say Todd takes home roughly $80 per book? Maybe $70
Let's also say he has 20,000 - 30000+ books to sign (not crazy based on that CGC video of comic boxes)

So after he is done, he brings home 1.5 million on the low end? 2.5 million on the high end?

My head is spinning

Do you know approximately when you sent that book and did it have pressing?

Trying to figure out how close mine are they were put in the grading/press queue mid/late December I sent them in mid late October. 🤔

My 6 book order and 1 book order was recieved on 10-18-22. I got back the 6 book order a few days ago so I assume the 1 book order is batman 423.

I know the last 3 orders have an input date of 11-17-22 but I distinctly remember multiple shipments of non mcfarlane books sent after that, were input first because the backlog in mcfarlane was so huge.

All mcfarlane books were pressed. I figured even if he was careful the possibility of a bump and leaving money on tbe table were factors in my decision. Although truth be told their pressing is sub par compared to other companies in my opinion.

I sent back 4 of the books because of light bends in grader notes. I assumed they didn't press. The only reason all 6 were not sent back was 2 were 9.8

Sorry if my rambling didn't help much. But fir what its worth according to gpa the books signed made back the signing cost easily so far.

Edit

For what it's worth, the batman 423 was a CBCS 9.6 when sent in.

So 11/17 is when they were put in the pressing/grade que? So maybe February for me. I only pressed 4 books because I had the others pressed locally. 3 were from the Kik starter that are embossed covers that the local guy said he can’t press including foil covers but every time I sent some to Cbcs they seem to ‘press’ it either they have more advance equipment/techniques or funny business 🤔

So maybe mine is shipping soon as well. I gave it to my LCS in hopes they might get a discount vs me. It didn’t work out that way, so I don’t have access to that information readily. But he said it was in the system around the same time. 🤞🏾

@ARTisCOOL Great choice!

So so so so tired of seeing Spawn 1, Spider-Man 1, etc...
Even in 9.8 I've grown tired of Spawn/Spiderman signed by McFarlane.
I love oddball, cool choices like this one.
