I mean the price for witness signatures. He is the co-creator of one of the hottest toy/movies/cartoon crazes in the past 40 years when you think it’s done a new generation of kids come and love the tmnt.

While new jacks that created a new speculative character with no promise of usage(not a fraction of the usage of tmnt that’s for sure) charge more than him. This what I mean it’s a steal he is literally a living legend.

Etc. aren’t and charge more for witnessed signatures.

That shredder Remarque is cool though.

Brian Michael Bendis is another one doesn’t charge anything for signatures just hard to catch him at a show.

Full Todd McFarlane order complete.

All 9.8 except one 9.6 (the 9.6 "CAN" be bumped up to 9.8 with a solid pressing process as the lower corner has a non-color breaking bend).

3 are Capullo and McFarlane.

Let's go!

@multi007 sorry, to clarify, I had two graded 9.8 signed Capullo, I bought one more graded 9.8 Capullo, and sent all 3 in to add McFarlane. It was a risk as they had to crack the cases of all 3, but it all worked out.

I'm interested in knowing total of submissions per issues. Was going to send a return of wolverine sketch variant #1 in. In the end I thought better of it. I get the feeling this one signing is going to flood the market with most of his books for at least 2 years. Hope I wrong, again something (anything) is only worth what someone will pay.

Since the pandemic started and folks bombarded both CGC & CBCS with submissions; the census has gone nuts with increases in census numbers.

Example: Take a look at the census for 9.8 New Mutants 98 in the last couple/three years. It's almost doubled.
It is similar even going back to Bronze books in higher grades.

When McFarlane is done signing his 34,000 books; plus the thousands of books he signed a couple years ago with CGC - what does that do to the census of yellow McFarlane books? We know this answer.

The state of the economy is surely problematic at the moment; but these increase in census numbers water down the value of the books as well. The McFarlane SS books are a microcosm of the entirety of the situation.

Just out of curiosity where was the information on 34000 books signed released? I never saw any news except hearsay on the forums.

Here’s the latest census on spawn #1.

The totals are up to 27k, but the SIGNED totals are 4k (just looking at the 9.8s and 9.6s)

How many signed spawn #1s were there before this round of signings?

Not to mention, the total signings that McFarlane did in this new round were not all Spawn #1 either. Heck, I only sent in 4 spawn #1 out of 13 books. The other 9 books were different McFarlane books. Others have done the same. So I think that spreads out the value of the autographs bit…

Also, census does not specify multi-signed books.

Example: A king spawn book signed by Capullo, submitted for McFarlane to sign…. Does that show up as one signature, or TWO.

Because if I submit a Capullo book for him to sign, that goes on the census as “plus one”. But if I resubmit that same book later on to have McFarlane sign it, does that add to the census? Keep the same? Hmm….

I think it was that CGC video short. Honestly, don't remember myself.
But if those boxes of books were real with all those racks; I don't think it can be far off.

@multi007 The unfortunate situation with Spawn 1 is that the amount of high grade candidates will be out there as well. Just throw a rock in the forest and you'll find a high grade Spawn 1 in a collection somewhere. (Actually all the early Spawn issues)

@Nuffsaid111 I also wonder. As the number of high grade UNSIGNED Spawn #1 books drop (because they are moving to the SIGNED column) does that increase the value of those unsigned and graded since they are more rare to find in the ”unsigned” and graded condition?

The McFarlane signed yellow will carry the premium over the universal, I'd say.
It's just that the yellow will never have the premium I'm sure we would all hope for.
3000+ copies (and rising).

I just checked Ebay available and there are over .... over 30 9.8 Spawn 1 Direct editions ranging from a little over $500 to over $1000. There's another 5 or so Newsstand editions
With that glut, and if I was a buyer of this, I can play the long game and get my price. It's just too darn many and too easy to get what I want (if I wanted this book.)

Side Note: I believe it was roughly 1.7 million copies of Spawn 1 that were produced. oofa!

@multi007 I would say it's highly doubtful that moving books into the "signed" category will increase the value for those that remain in the "unsigned" category. I think it's more likely to have the opposite effect on value. A part of the value of an unsigned 9.8 is the expectation that it could become a much more valuable signed 9.8. If the signed category becomes saturated, a decline in those values would probably also cause a decline in the unsigned values.

For what it's worth mcfarlane has literally stated that at this point its prolly more rare to get a unsigned spawn 1 than a signed one.

Glad I chose to get my spidey 316 signed instead of spawn 1.....
Census is very low compared to the spawn 1. Only 323 signed 9.8's....

@Nearmint67 yup, which is what I was thinking when I was deciding to send in McFarlane books. I sent 4 spawn #1, and several king spawn covers and one gunslinger.

Yes it reset to the 20th of December as submitted date. But it was more like a week after the announcement was originally made.

Remaining books.

There is little that is as infuriating as getting one's books professionally pressed and getting that dreaded "light bends".
I'd swear sometimes it's just a "canned" phrase for something they observe as a defect that they don't feel like completing a full sentence for. So they just put down 2 words "light bends".

True, either way hopefully the grade doesn't come back to bad. The book I sent in was a hulk 340 previously a cgc 8.0 blue unpressed or cleaned. We'll see what happens

Last time I got the pressing charges reversed. We shall see about this time. I would prefer they just do the job we paid for though.
