So. White blood count is part of the body's defense against infection. My blood is always high in white blood count even though I'm not sick. Since I've been giving a lot of blood lately to the blood bank, do you suppose the folks who get my blood will benefit a bit more from the high white blood count vs a typical donor? Or do you think it's too low an amount to make a difference? And yes, as a side effect, of the white blood count, I almost never get sick with common cold or things of that nature. My brother says I am kinda like a real life Wolverine.... |

@Bronte That's great not to get a common cold. I don't very often. Every two or three years I catch one, but doesn't last but a few days with proper meds... No idea how your blood would affect others if at all... |

@Bronte That's very interesting! I hadn't considered that a naturally high white cell count might be beneficial. It makes sense. It wouldn't hurt to talk about it with someone at the blood bank. I tend not to catch colds/flus/viruses in general, but that's likely because I have a lower-than-normal body temp and don't provide a proper environment for viruses to thrive. Bacteria, of course, couldn't care less about that. |

I just saw a hematologist and I'm due for a follow-up. I will ask him. The count is not high enough to be viscous, so it's not lethal. That's what an oncologist told me when I was younger. My other question which is less relevant now than in tbe past is, what happens if you take a boat load if antidepressants? I used to exceed 20 pills a day. I dont know how much blood a person has vs how much a transfusion is given, but will that spike their serotonin levels or give them a slight boost in mood? I would imagine it's pretty low concentration given amount in blood, but I've always been curious. Will the person getting the blood feel a bit more happy? LOL |

I remember an old issue of Wizard where they got a doctor to respond to a question of if Wolverine could transfer his healing factor via blood donation. The doctor said that basically he could but it would be temporary. As soon as the recipient used the cells it would be done. So maybe you're saving some people a cold or making a cold less bad but it's probably too small a thing to notice.

Would you sell to a buyer on Ebay that has zero feedback and has an account created date of today August 8th? I didn't want to sell and rejected an offer I would have otherwise been happy to accept, but the buyer purchased my item at the Buy it Now price. I'm going to add signature confirmation to the order since it's an apartment unless the consensus is to cancel the order.
