New question:

For slabbed graded books that are sketched and colored, why do the labels only say “sketch”. And not “sketch and colored”? They seem to omit the “colored” aspect, even though it’s a very important (and value added) detail of the authentication.

I know sometimes sketches get lost in cover, but if you can find the sketch I would imagine it's obvious if it's in color or not.

They used to note who colored it.

If the artist drew it and colored it both, then they might only note them once.

@DrWatson I think (for what it’s worth) they should note signed by sketch by and colored by even if it’s the same person.

Sometimes I have a hard time discerning the printed cover from the hand colored cover.

I agree @multi007. If you really want to give the artist credit I'd change "colored" to "colors".

I agree with @multi007 and @HeinzDad . The effort, skill and talent it takes to colour a cover by hand needs to be acknowledged.

Does strange academy 1 have a digital sticker I need to be wary of?

It should. The only possible exception would be an online store variant.

@Bronte @HeinzDad
Mine don't, but these are Walmart variants. Definitely store-bought, though.

I recently bought the breakfast club variant and I guess I'll ask my brother to go through it and see if he can find the sticker since it was kinda expensive.

I just did my first ever sketch cover commission.

What do I need to know?

It’s Joe Rubinstein. He’ll be at ft Lauderdale con Jan 15th.

I bought the book. Infinity #1 blank sketch variant. Went on the artists website and prepaid for the commission. I did a dual character and asked for Dr Strange fighting Thanos. ink and half color. I’ll be at the con 30 minutes before doors open. I asked him if he wanted or needed, I can ship the book to him for him to start early and that I was ok either way.

Just waiting for a response now. I’m excited because this is my first.

Thank you

I take it, it's a very small convention? Only 1 day?

@multi007 Joe is soooo easy to work with. It’s great that you’re having something done by him too. He did a piece for me in August of Northstar.

@Bronte yes. One day, but is busy. Already has Rubenstein, Sam De La Rosa, and Michael Golden booked.

I love small cons.

@Element_Lad thank you!! That relieves me of a lot of worry.

I heard horror stories of Michael Golden so no plans to do a commission with him prior. I’ll see what he can do at the con.

I've never done that, but I have participated in sketch ops where I just sent a blank cover.
