| quick question on moving a large comic collection. i might be moving into new house down the road. and our main issue would be how to move the comic collection graded and ungraded books. is there any ideas on how to move it safely thanks |

| Unless you're talking about 10,000+ books, do it yourself on a nice day. Make multiple trips if you have to but that's the only way to guarantee they get handled and transported to your satisfaction. | ||

| I agree with @figment. I've moved a 3000+ book collection before on numerous occasions. I don't let movers touch any of my collection. I move it all myself one carload at a time. | ||

| thanks for the help we might buy a home about 2 hours away and i think moving it myself over months is the safest way to go. |

| I moved about one hours distance. I rented a storage unit 5 minutes from the new house and used it as a staging area, moving stuff into it 2-3 times a week for 30 days before the actual move. Then kept it for 30 days after the move to give me time to organize. It made the move a whole lot easier. | ||

| I moved my entire collection (20k plus) into a new house a few years ago, I had my brother (whom I have collected with for 30 plus years) assist me with this major undertaking. If you have one or two reliable friends who know how to handle comics and would be willing to help, it could possibly make moving your collection a lot easier for you. Good luck!! | ||

| Agree with the comments above, too. I moved from the midwest to Vegas years ago. I used Pods, which was fine, but my comics were in my car with me for the drive out to Vegas. I've moved three times in town since coming to Vegas, and I'm the only one who moves my comics. | ||

| I would agree with those who recommended you do it yourself. That brings peace of mind, and that will reduce the likelihood of damage or theft. Would be good to have some reliable help - maybe a friend or family member has a truck to go with you and reduce the number of trips. One option is to pack some lower value comics into boxes and label them as books for the movers. When I move, the half-assed stuff can get shipped, but the choice material is for my hands only. |
