The Boys17977

I award you no points… stanley_1883 private msg quote post Address this user
Ok, so I’m watching the Boys and I’ve read Irredeemable previously. Would it be accurate to say there are lots of similarities between the Homelander and the Plutonian? Can’t help but wonder.

also think of Omni-Man from Invicible. Both are superman like "heroes" that are the most popular...but really arent so good.

though Omni-Man is a invader posing as a hero (one online series says think if Kryptonians and Saiyans were combined) while Homelander is technically a hero just a selfish jerk

They've very similar in that they're both basically analogues for Superman. Plutonian is a bit more similar in that he's from space, where as Homelander was created. Homelander is and egomaniac corrupted by Vaught. Plutonian just snapped and got tired of humanity being so weak and ungrateful. Plutonian is far more powerful too.

It's a shame because it means we're probably a long ways from getting the Irredeemable show because everyone would just assume it's a copy of The Boys (I forget which came out first). I think it could be an awesome show, especially if they had dual story lines with Max Damage from Incorruptible. Both series are definitely worth a read. I personally like Waid's writing in Irredeemable/Incorruptible more, just because Ennis' gross-out extreme "humor"/torture porn can be a bit much.

@Supertom per Wiki in regards to Irreedemable:

"Film adaptation
Potential film adaptation
On May 5, 2016, Deadline Hollywood announced that 20th Century Fox was producing a feature film adaptation of the comic book written by Tommy Wirkola and directed by Adam McKay.[65]

On March 17, 2022, it was announced that Netflix will be adapting the comic book into a feature film, combining both Irredeemable and Incorruptible, Jeymes Samuel will direct, Kemp Powers writing, and Jay-Z producing with Wirkola & McKay no longer attached.[66][67]"

So a movie is in the works for both the Plutonian and Max Damage
