Was at GSCF yesterday which has been a wonderful somewhat large Comic Convention in Morristown, NJ over the years. A few thoughts:

It was absolutely packed. Parking was a disaster for anyone who came a little late (and I mean only an hour after opening). Unfortunately, I couldn't go early like I usually do for almost all conventions as to get 1st dibs on lines for artists/writers & for purchasing comics, etc...

There was a great mix of comic dealers, artists, writers, decent celebs, and folks just selling comic related "stuff". A good mix of almost everything related to the hobby.

Walt Simonson was sketching all day - he has always drawn crowds over my 30+ years of attending conventions, but he has literally become a rock star the last couple years. If you don't get on his line early, be prepared to wait several hours. It's crazy! Folks had stacks and stacks and stacks of books for Walt signatures as well as waiting for a sketch. A small donation is all he and Louise ask. It harkens to the 1980's when autographs and sketches were free.

Asking prices for wall comics were, in my opinion, overpriced generally speaking. I prefer purchasing at conventions since I can see the comic instead of seeing pictures on Ebay. That said, there were good deals in the general boxes if one took the time to look. This was strangely true even with me getting there late and (presumably) boxes already being raided.

In the end I was late and could not stay long for personal reasons. I picked up a few nice books in the bins, but these were my 2 prizes I walked out with in my short time there. Freddie Stroma (Vigilante) & Nhut Le (Judomaster) on this nice Deathstroke Inc. #5 painted cover. All I need now is the big guy (Cena) on this book. I have to say that it is so much of a better personal experience to meet folks than it is to just send into CGC/CBCS and never meet them. Meeting is our 30 seconds to be able to connect and chat with them and remember the experience.

I also got Kevin Altieri (director of Batman The Animated Series) autograph on my Batman Adventures #1. One of my favorite cartoons of all time. So real happy there.

I don't want to brag, but cashiers are always checking me out. power_struggle55 private msg quote post Address this user
glad you have fun. I prefer these types over the big ones (SDCC and NYCC) because its all about the comics not 98% movies and tv.

Yeaaa .... was on the fence about going, but really wanted yet another sketch from Simonson (have a bunch of commissions and sketches already but one can never have enough

Side Note: If anyone interested in seeing my Simonson commissions, they're on my CBCS Photo Gallery. Quite proud of them

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
Just did the one day.

Started the day as the first person on the Walt Simonson line and stopped by for an autograph on one of my purchases to end the day where it began.

Picked up five commissions (four from Len Danovich and one from Sean Mendozza)

After getting a bunch of signatures in the morning I did some shopping in the afternoon:

Also got two items in the charity auction.

The first item was sketched by Adriana Melo.

The second item is from an unknown artist who left it on the Heroes Initiative table.
