Firstly I have not been notified of any submissions being rejected for VSP. I have used some lesser known artists (some local) for some sketch cover commissions and have submitted them to the VSP for processing. If they are rejected, is there a process for appealing it? I have all the communications between myself and the artist regarding the commissions. Not saying this has occurred. Just asking if anyone has had this experience. Do you get notified of rejected VSPs? So far I have only received emails for my submissions that five comics have gone to pressing. They were not VSPs. I have not received any information other then "received" for my other submissions. Thank you for any help. |

Perhaps in the future you should have artist submit the work with the appropriate forms that way you are guaranteed a verification.

I had always been told by CGC no they could never be verified and would be considered fakes. Then I ran into the guys at the CBCS booth. They were very busy so I didn't want to tie them up with a million questions. Can you give me a link to the forms for the artist(s) to fill out? I would not want them to be charged for the service. Can it be charged to my account? Thank you for any additional information. |

Never done it personally, but a similar question was asked a little bit ago and here was response. I'm sorry I dont have the form outright, I have no idea where it's located. https://forum.cbcscomics.com/topic/16402/page/1/creators-submitting-my-books---authentic-vs-verified-signatures/#1 |

Verification ONLY examines the signature against known authentic examples. No CoAs, photos, or communication is considered. If the artists are less known and Beckett/CBCS has no examples to compare to then it’s not going to pass verification. Not sure there would be anything there to appeal. @Bronte is correct in that for situations like these you would want to go with a witnessed signature. Here is the Sketch Opp Form When submitting you use Authentic Signature option instead of Witnessed Signature and the artist would have to complete the form and submit it, along with the book and a copy of the invoice themselves. |

Also keep in mind that not passing VSP doesn't mean they're fake. It just means they can't verify. Person signing could have been tired, could have signed too fast, could have had a hand cramp, who knows.

I had one Stan Lee rejected. Didn’t know what to do, destroy it? Dump some of Stan’s blood on it? I just sold it cheap with full disclosure, the other guys problem.

I blame the forum gremlins. | figment private msg quote post Address this user
I've had several Stan Lee signatures come back as unverifiable. It is beyond frustrating, especially given that I was the one that stood in line back in the late 80's to have them signed in the first place. Stan was such a nice man, and I got a huge smile at my Silver Surfer #4. It's really a shame the way he was exploited at the end.

So do you get notified of VSP rejections prior to grading? Thank you everyone who took the time to answer this thread. |

Quote:Originally Posted by Element_Lad Surely someone will know the answer. I'd assume there is an option on the submittal form as to continuing with grading or not, but as for being notified first, I highly doubt it. I saw a video of a guy who submitted a multi-sig book and it came back saying "bad sig" on a sticker, on the ungraded book. It didn't say which sig failed, which is surprising. But I would think he had the option to grade, or not, based on the outcome. And he didn't know a sig had failed until he opened the box. |

Most of the artists I submitted use social media to display their work. Either on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr or DeviantArt. I also try to tag them in all my own social media postings. I got notified two of my comics have already graded and moved to labeling. They were two of three books submitted in that order. They were given numbers but the third I have not received anything on. Fingers crossed that my books are VSP'd. I submitted one ASP back in April at a con. It and the four books (pressing) I have not received any status the ASP nor two of the pressings. Also a week earlier I had submitted 4 VSP's at a con and one pressing and have received no status on them. I wish they covered more cons for ASP's. I am attending one this weekend and hope to get five sketch covers. At least they will be at the big one next month! |

Sorry lost my train of thought there. They often reference the commission or piece on the web pages as either WIPs or completed pieces. Does it help to include a link in the submission? I also site their social medias in my ComicArtFans page. Nothing I can do about those already submitted and someone said one form submission may not be enough for a VSP. Thanks everyone. |

Oh one more question, does having a photo of myself and the artist at the con with the book help? Thanks again.
