I'm going to take a break from regular comics and start listing some Charlton, Dell, and Gold Key .12c golden age-size comics. None of these books are high grade, but they are pretty unique. These comics are mostly in 'reader' condition, maybe slightly better. Just FYI... UPDATE!!! I changed by mind on the condition of these comics. I'll go with 0.5 at a minimum, even though there may be one or two that might get an NG. Feel free to ask questions, or request more scans/photos. |

Doctor Solar, Man of the Atom #15, George Wilson painted cover. This issue retells the origin of Doctor Solar. The scans tell the story about this comic. The back cover scan doesn't entirely show the tears from the bottom left corner edges (left and bottom of corner). These tears are about 2 to 3 inches from meeting and separating from the page. There is also a decent spine roll. FR, or better; off-white pages. $8 shipped |

Fightin’ Air Force #39, featuring The 50th mission. This comic contains a ‘What If’ story set during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Again, the scans tell the story, however the back cover scan doesn't show the precise cuts through the cover and the last few pages. Notice the partially removed vendor price sticker (not my doing). Because of the cuts through the back, this comic is.... FREE, with any purchase. |

The Frogmen #3. Frank Frazetta is credited with partial ink work on this issue. This comic definitely has it's issues, but it is intact. The spine roll and/or misalignment makes the bottom staple look like it has detached from all pages. It hasn't, it's just rolled/misaligned. The bottom staple has, however, detached from the cover and there is a split in the spine at the bottom. FR, or better; off-white pages. $7 shipped |

The Frogmen #6. Don Segall is credited with the script for this issue. Plenty of issues with this one, but it is complete and readable. The torn-off corner on the front cover does NOT translate on the back cover. That corner is folded over and I didn't want to mess with it. FR, or better; off-white pages, with some light tanning on the bottom of some of the pages. $6 shipped |

Ghost Stories #16. Frank Springer is credited with a majority of the work in this issue. Plenty of wear and tear here, but the comic is intact and readable. Both covers show a small tape pull spot close to the bottom edge. Except for the moderate wear and color degradation on the front cover, this comic isn't in bad shape. Notice the vendor stamp on Death. GD, give or take; cream to off-white pages. $8 shipped |

Mysteries of Unexplored Worlds #31, Charlton Comics. This one has it's issues as well, like all those little bits of paper sticking out of the left page edges. They are in moderate danger of falling off, so I have to be very careful handling the comic. The staining on the back cover goes through half the wraps, while the center wrap is detached. There is a sizeable spine roll as well. FR, give or take; cream to off-white pages. $6 shipped |

Nukla #4. Steve Ditko and Joe Gill contributed to this comic. The cover's spine looks pretty rough but it is still attached. What can't be seen in the scans are half the wraps inside the comic (not all) have a 1 to 2 inch tear through them, close to the center of the right page edges. The top spine corner shows a 1.5 inch split. FR, give or take; off-white pages. $7 shipped |

Tales of the Wizard of OZ (The Wizard of OZ), Four Color 1308. Using four-color plates during production, this comic is adapted from the animated television show, Tales of the Wizard of OZ. This is a unique comic book, one that I have never seen and one that I can't find any sales info on...anywhere. With that in mind, I believe this comic may be very difficult to find...in my opinion. The cover is completely detached, but the inside of the comic looks pretty good for it's age. There is a moderate spine roll, though, as well as some mildly bend corners through the whole book...top and bottom. There is a small piece of paper missing from the back cover's left edge, as well as a piece already missing. GD, give or take (probably take); off-white pages. $50 shipped (or best offer) |

The True Story of Smokey the Bear, one-shot. This comic retells the origin of Smokey the Bear. Here's another unique 'comic', if you will. There's not a lot of sales info out there, but this one-shot is from 1960. I'm guessing this one is also difficult to find. The spine is severely split, leaving about 2 inches or so left to keep the cover attached. Otherwise, the comic is complete and readable. The rest of the defects are visible in the scans. GD, give or take; off-white pages, with some light tanning at the top of some, if not all, of the pages. $20 shipped (or best offer) |

Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea #12, George Wilson painted cover. I have two copies of this issue, both with their own specific defects. Copy #1: This comic has a tear in the front cover that is held on by about an inch worth of paper. It starts at the bottom. There is another tear on the front cover, at the 'D' in 'Gold' that goes through the first few wraps. There is a moderate spine roll as well. The comic is complete and the cover is attached. Copy #2: This comic is structurally sound, but it has a nasty spine roll. There are small tears on the spine, but the cover is attached. The back cover shows stains and/or fingerprints near the top edge, along with some wrinkling. The front cover has some color loss, as well as ink breaking creases. I'm giving both copies the same top grade estimate because of the different defects between them. Better safe than sorry. GD, or less; cream to off-white pages (both copies) $7 shipped (each copy) COPY #1 COPY #2 |

World War Stories #3. This issue features stories based on WWI. This comic has some major issues. There is a tear on the front cover, starting at the bottom, that goes through the page. It is still attached by about two inches of paper. I found the comic this way...the tear may have occurred when it was taken out of, and put back into, the comic bag. I was extremely careful when putting this comic into a new Golden Age-sized back with board. The cover, and the first two wraps, are detached from the bottom staple. FR, give or take; cream to off-white pages. $5 shipped |

Yogi Bear Birthday Party, Four Color 1271. Using four-color plates in production, this comic is very loosely based on the two-part television episode ‘Birthday Party’. This comic is complete, but there are sizeable tears on the spine that leave partial detachment of the cover of the cover at the staples. There is a sizeable spine roll. The back cover has a postage label partially attached to the page. The part that is removed has created 'tape' pull on the paper underneath. The tear below the bottom staple (more evident on the back) goes through the whole comic, being no bigger than an inch on the back. FR, maybe better; off-white pages. $8 shipped |

Star Wars #6, Whitman reprint. This issue is Part 6 of the movie adaptation...Luke Skywalker battles Darth Vader. The biggest issues with this comic are the clipped bottom spine corner and the creased & clipped bottom right corner. The bottom spine corner doesn't look like a production defect because the cut edges look a little rough. I could be mistaken. GD+, give or take; cream to off-white pages. $5 shipped |

Newsstand edition copy of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi #2 (limited series). This issue suffers from quite a bit of moisture damage and staining, which affects the interior pages to one degree or another. A few pics were taken of other defects, but they pale in comparison to the moisture damage and staining. The comic is complete. I didn't bother to grade this one, but I don't want to throw it away. I'd like this comic to go to a good home, so..... FREE, with any purchase |

Newsstand edition coy of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi #3 (limited series). This issue suffers from the same type of moisture damage as issue #2. The interior pages are affected as well, again from minor to major. The book is complete. Again, I don't like throwing away comics. Perhaps this one will also go to a good home. Having said that... Strange Tales #173. This issue features the 5th appearance of Brother Voodoo, the last in Strange Tales. It also features the 1st appearance of Black Talon. Marvel Value Stamp #45, Mantis, is intact. My biggest concern with this comic is some sticky residue near the word ‘Tales’ that may have damaged the ink underneath. I opted NOT to try and clean this off because I don’t know how to clean and press comics. A post-it note covers the spot to keep it from sticking to the mylar bag. I have no idea how this happened. I believe it can be cleaned off (mostly) for a higher grade. FN-, or better; off-white to white pages. $20 shipped |

Tales of Evil #3, featuring Man-Monster (Atlas/Seaboard). This issue features the 1st appearance, and origin, of Man-Monster. I might be a bit conservative on my grade estimate...or not. Except for the nasty spine stress creases and a moderately rolled spine, this comic is in decent condition. There are a few ink breaking edge creases, but nothing nasty. Teddy & Joe #2 (TPI Comics). I’m guessing this is a now defunct comic publisher because I couldn’t find much on this comic through normal searches. I decided not to do a deep dive…it’s one of those oddities I found. This comic is intact and readable. There is plenty of wear and tear on and along the spine, including a small piece missing from the bottom spine corner. There are some corner bend creases, as well as edge bends. GD/VG, or better; white pages, except that some of the interior pages have a slim line of tanning on the right edges. $5 shipped |
