I’m hoping someone might be able to recall the Frank Miller (newspaper or magazine) interview/article where he stated something along the lines of “I wanted to create a comic book an adult could read on an airplane.” UPDATE: I remember reading this right about the time the original Dark Knight Returns came out. So it would have been 1985 or 1986. I do remember that the article was referring to Miller wanting adults to be able to publically read and appreciate a comic book instead of being ashamed because it had childish content. He wanted comic books and their readers to finally be taken seriously. |
