Lol, trying to imagine the scenario where I hire a Director and 30 days in he wants to talk to me about packaging peanuts. In the private sector we call that a CEM…a career ending maneuver.

LOL!
Yeah, I am sticking to what I know best and that's traveling procuring comics and art, figuring what books should be pressed or not, which go to a grading service, grade the bigger books we sell raw, training MCS graders, getting MCS to do many more conventions and being their face on the convention floor, helping with advertising and special projects, helping with ideas that come up or I come up with. Other stuff as well!

A heck of a lot different than sitting at my grading desk all day!

Life is good

You know, the image I had of a consignment director was you in a suit, behind a mahogany desk talking to high rollers on video chats about consigning their million dollar collections. I never imagined it would be jeans and t-shirt, driving to homes and loading collections into a cargo van/truck.

Maybe you can start an email list and detail all your travels like this one guy in Denver is known to do. Some pictures of you in a pretty dress would be nice too

As I type this I see you've posted up a more detailed description of your duties. Sounds like a diverse bunch of responsibilities and I'm happy you are happy!!

Maybe he can slip the suggestion to one of the lower-ranking peons who just wants to improve the company a tiny bit. However the private sector usually accomplishes things.

@HulkSmash - Do I spy some JTC variants in that cool stack to the left or are those actual encase toys?

The stack to the very left is Star Wars figs in plastic cases.

Thanks! As much as I love CBCS, I am super happy!

I have loaded 4+ million dollar collections into vans wearing a suit. LOL!

We should not make fun of Betty, she did so much for our hobby. Still, that was funny!

I was at MCS yesterday. I think most of us don’t have a full grasp of the size of the operation. I was dropping off 150 books, the guy ahead of me was dropping 1200 books. I would guess there was more than 60 employee cars in the parking lot. I’m pretty amazed that things run as smoothly as they do. I got to meet Steve, he’s as nice as they say. We’re probably gonna be besties eventually.

Never mind the size of the operation... what about the size of that building?!? I've worked in high tech semiconductor manufacturing plants that weren't that size.

Course I did not have his email addres or private phone either one until I asked here...in a public forum. I also know Steve hated private messages here in the forum and preferred using email, hence my choice to use a public thread. I just wanted to make sure to reach steve himself, cause I am trying to sell a few bigger books to help with medical emergencies and needed gear. We done now?

Not exactly but I am making sacrifices as part of a move. When I sold my house in 2020 I added quite a bit to my collection as a hedge against inflation while renting. Now that I’ve bought a house, the fun is over and it’s time to reduce my collection value by about 40%. Hopefully in a year or two I will feel secure enough to start adding to it again. I kept the 150 or so slabs that I’m most attached to, like a full box of lower grade EC slabs. Also have a decent collection of CBCS Raw Grade and MCS graded books. As well as about 25 boxes of raw comics.

I sold most of my collection back in Australia 8 years ago and kept only 360 books.
Been building the collection up and what I have now I never had owned before so the collection looks completely different.

Though I do miss books I sold previously I have no regrets moving to another country.

@southerncross it’s kind of educational once in a while to be forced to prioritize and decide where things really stand on the priority list.
