Anyone get a slab with that new label yet? Still pretty early in its circulation.

Got these from FedEx today. The new labels look so much better than the rivets! Had these signed at RI Comic Con in December. They were my first trial for pressing.

I thought the ASM 121 was a 6.0 before pressing and hoped that it would improve by a half point to maybe one point. Guess what? It's still a 6.0.

The second comic is a Thor 126, the first issue with that title. I thought it was a 7.0 or even 7.5 before pressing, and hoped for an 8.0 after pressing. Guess what? It's a 6.5. So much for the notion that SA books get preferential grading compared to newer books. It is one of the nicest 6.5 SA book that I have seen (IMO).

@esaravo So there's no sign of waves inside the Mylar or case, right?

I like how they color matched the holofoil to the label color.

Thank you. That alleviates some of my worries.

@shrewbeer and @VisceralDreams - small water stain on bottom rear of cover near spine. In my experiences, CBCS really lowers grades for any type of staining. I'm wondering why I didn't get a "checkmark" since the book presents better than the 6.5.

Because the water stain is more than likely visible. The check mark is more for defects that aren't discernible through the case or inside the book.

If that's true, how come Comic Connect is selling an ASM 50 graded 5.5 by CBCS with a checkmark (original label) that has water staining and rippling clearly visible on it's back cover?

sigh, one book in my latest order apparently has a 1.5" stain on the inside back cover that somehow neither Joey nor I were aware of. It's the only defect on the notes and the book got an 8.5*

If you look at the notes, there is a "1.25" tear top edge of 8th page near spine". My guess is that without that defect, it would have graded higher.

That makes sense. Add the small other defects and it gets a 6.5. Seems a stain drops a book 1-2 full grades

@Jesse_O thats the wrong book, but somehow you got in the ballpark (i cant read it from the pic nohow).

Not sure how it could be the wrong book. Comic Connect only lists one ASM 50 CBCS 5.5 with a star. I was able to zoom in and get the number. Then it was just a matter of looking at the notes.

Interesting that I don't have a preference of any label look. They are all just fine.

Came here...BUT,...I have heard the CGC red lanel, I think their first label or early on at least, is very few, thus I would think those books, are sought after. Sort of a dual level to collecting comics.

Just my thinking....

That sounds about right. A 1" tear alone would apparently drop an otherwise perfect book into the 4.0 territory, nevermind the other defects
