I started a thread like this once before. I'm not doing a lot of buying right now but still browsing, mostly on MCS. I will try to post anything here that I find very tempting. Hopefully others will do the same.

This first appearance of Yoda and Bobba Fett is, in my opinion, way undervalued relative to it's reprint in Star Wars comics. The consigned MCS 6.5 copy is already priced vary fair at $100 but I think it's probably closer to a CGC 8.0.

You already know why I cringe about everything Star Wars, but this is the sound that goes through my head every time I think about that dreadful sale and I suppose anything non-stars wars I sold before 2020-21.

@KatKomics I see the scuffing at the bottom and the corners, but do you think it would get less than a 7.5 from CGC?

Agreed, a sleeper book.

If it does pull an 8.0, not a bad buy at $100, though the all black cover baxkground is a grade limiter on copies of this book....the jump between 9.6 and 9.8 is hyyuuuuuuge on this book, I think it's mostly due to the fact it's so inordinately tough to pull 9.8's due to BC scuffing, fingerprints etc.

I have a cherry copy, pressed it like 3 years ago but never subbed it. One of the books I'm glad I didn't sub, should pull a 9.2-9.4.

Now I only the three 1st print New Mutants 1982 GN's and three Epic Illustrated #3's (1st Dreadstar) I was too lazy to sub, would have their associated TV and movie properties come back to life.

It could pull a 7.5, maybe even an 8.0, from CGC or CBCS.

But it really should be pressed if one expects a 7.5/8.0.

Virtually all copies of this book have varying degrees of what I call "long box spine stacking curl".

And this is a book that attracts not only fingerprints to the BC black background and other slight blemishes/scuffs but finger bends are usually an issue on this book due to the large size and the paper stock used.

More pronounced finger bends on this book are visible on scans, they look like slight discoloration marks on the FC and BC, but light finger bends on this book are very tough to discern in scans.

This is a good price for a 10 cent cover, minor first appearance from the Rogue's Gallery for under $100. I'm very tempted buy it but I have 3 slabbed copies. The slabbing alone would cost $35 or more these days with shipping:

I can never remember why Super Special 16 was more popular than Special Edition 2. I think SE2 came out before SS16.

It may have been because the latter is just a beast in size, complicating storage. Or maybe it was SE2 was more distributed on magazine racks while SS2 had a smaller distribution?

My copies shown. Picked up cheap before Boba’s appearance on Mandalorian (picked up SS16 for 1/2 price).

Just a reminder that Holiday weekends are typically a good time to find good prices at MCS auction. I don't have any books in this auction but I'll try to post a few ideas here:

Nick Fury Lot #1,3,6, 13 VG range $23 bid

Does auction extend time further after a bid or does sniping type bids exist?

No sniping on MCS auctions. Late bids will extend by 2 minutes. Prices will definitely rise on the final day, but they don't jump in the last seconds the way Ebay auctions do. My experience is that it's best to put in your highest bid early. I think as a buyer you are actually better off to continually be the highest bid than to challenge another bidder by taking that spot from them in the final minutes.

If it didn't take a year to get books graded, I would be buying pretty much all of the MCS raw stock of both of these books. I love these type of low-risk spec books. I actually have all of the Action 340 MCS raw inventory in my cart but hesitate on pulling the trigger:

Action Comics 340 1st Parasite:

Should I regret not placing a bid on this or is it a sign the market is imploding?

I'm leaning towards the former, although that doesn't mean I could've won it for a decent price.

Given prices in gpa it would be a solid purchase for what it sold at.

Either way, I imagine the seller is quite disappointed with the price.

MCS must have bought a really nice collection. If you scroll down to about 5:30 Central time they put up a bunch of pretty incredible listings. And they aren't consignments.

Somebody needs to put a bid on this. Not for resale value but just fun books to own and read. I would be bidding $50-$60 but I already own pretty much all of them in similar condition. Current bid $13

For anyone that's interested in potentially owning a Spider-Man #1 9.8 McFarlane signed with the spider-web stamp on the back cover. This ends tonight on ebay. I think all of the seller's negative feedback is non-comic book related.

@flanders

The bid at time of your post is a steal. No brainer if you can get this under $200. A paid Todd signature runs upwards of $100 unless you get one for free.

Not sure if this is that good of a deal, but any dreck hunters may be interested in several Pitt #1 CGC 9.8s that popped up at MCS for $40 each.

Is FREE a good price? Sharing here rather than starting a new thread.

From The Comic Mint- Miles Morales 41 Ivan Tao “Life Is Beautiful” variant.

Details and ordering here

1 copy of an ungraded Trade Dress is free once added to cart. Just pay shipping or tack on to another order.

The long drawn out explanation is laid out for you, but in a nutshell this just a way for Comic Mint to say “Thank you” to their customers and a way to give something back (no matter how big or small) in light of domestic and global issues we have been facing. I snagged 1 with a 5 pack of Spawn 1 anniversary blank covers to justify the shipping in my own mind.
