It looks great in that new CBCS holder....

No, I still need a few. One was up for auction at MCS, but it was a 45 serial number scan and the back cover had some questionable markings as to whether they were spine ticks or art.

I don't like resubs. They make me nervous and cost money.

@DrWatson Congrats! Rancor was one of my favorite toys when I was a kid.

The Avenges Annuals. I had 6, 7, 8, and 9 just sitting raw in a box. The 6 did not pass a 9.4 grade screen. I knew the 9 was fairly sharp. Pleasantly surprised with the 7 and 8.

Oh, we had a heart breaker. I didn't realize it until I was scanning it. The Avengers 131 went from a 9.6 graded by the cgc to a 9.4 CBCS. It's the Rocky Mountain copy and it arrived from Blazing Bob Storms with a busted corner slab. I threw it in on the 20% Banana promo and it took one for the team.

Was it always a 9.4 in 9.6's clothing or did the book get damaged along the way? The world may never know.

As the saying goes, "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away."

He tooketh away on the 131, but he gaveth on the 182. Bought as a 9.6 on FeeBay at a deal, the numpty who sold it shipped it in a bubble mailer. That's all. It was not pretty. Plastic shrapnel everywhere.

After CBCS worked their voodoo that they do do... BAM! CBCS 9.8.

Avengers box fodder that turned out to be hidden gems. I almost didn't send the 181 in since I already had the Mass copy in 9.8.

These arrived yesterday( I was out with the family so I had to wait til I got home to open the box). Both of these were CGC slabs one retained its grade while the daredevil book took an ugly hit. I also think the 158 is crooked in the case but it's whatever. Overall I'm satisfied because the case is better and I believe the grades are honest. On to the next ones. 🍺

The Fantastic Four Annuals.

I was pleasantly surprised for the most part. Of course the FF Annual 5 that came back a .5 is a stinker, but it does have white pages... those that are left, lol. They will probably be off to MCS at some point. Though there's nothing quite like looking at 1960s Marvel... unless it's 1970s Marvel.

Captain America and X-Men Annuals

The two Captain America books were a last minute decision. I wish the 333 would have graded higher, but it's still a very nice looking 9.4

The Uncanny X-Men Annual 7 was an old label 9.8 from the cgc. It had a cracked case.

Before:

After:

The Uncanny X-Men Annual 10 was mislabeled by the cgc as an X-Men (1991) #10 graded 9.6. I wasn't going to risk a banana slab on a reholder.

I don't have a before scan.

After:

An upgrade never entered my mind. I was completely surprised.

I wish I could find one for the X-Men Annual 10. I know I have one. It was mislabeled and everything.

I have two more when I get the time to scan them.

I finally got my NYCC submission back. - Thanks Wade! -

There are a few artists that only go to SDCC and NYCC. I'm on the east coast so it's easier to go to NYCC. Plus it's hard to get SDCC tickets. I went to NY to get my Nightwing books signed by Bruno Redondo and Tom Taylor. Unfortunately Tom canceled at the last minute.

Since I bought both of these covers, I had to get the books graded too.

I have a few of these foils and I haven't gotten a 9.8 yet. The next one I send in, I will let Steve Ricketts work his magic.

I bought this book back in the 90's and it was signed for me by Steve Stern. The Chromium cover curls and they docked me for it in the graders notes. While I'm disappointed in the grade, having Jae Lee's signature on it is more important to me than the final grade.

With Greg Capullo there, I had to get my two Capullo Spawn's signed and graded.

There's a great story behind this Greg Capullo Spawn. I read that McFarlane likes to dedicate books to individuals. This one was for Greg's mother. Greg told me the interior house drawings are from his childhood home.

I decided to sign up for the Jim Lee experience and I got these three Hush books signed by him. I didn't know until the next day about the Hu2h upcoming story line.

When I heard Chip Zdarsky was going to NY, I had to pull this 1:250 out for his signature.

With the buzz around Absolute Batman, I had to get Snyder and Dragotta to sign this ashcan a comic store had near me. Thanks to Matt for helping me get this signed by Snyder!

I also heard that R.A. Salvatore was going to be at the show along with Tim Seeley and Andrew Pepoy.

Getting Bruno Redondo to sign Nightwing books for me was nice but having Dan Mora there too, 🤓

One of the newest Black Diamond artists is Tirso Cons. I picked this 1:25 up in NY at Midtown before the show.

One of the last official covers Bruno did for Nightwing was 118C. Sorry to see Bruno and Tom leave. Good luck to Watters and Soy going forward.

When I first saw this blank cover I had the idea to get different artists to draw their version of Batman on the book. I got my first three at NYCC. * Bruno Redondo * Daniel Sampere * David Finch *

The last two were subbed in hopes of upgrades. Neither one upgraded. They both stayed the same. The ASM 67 is one of the prettiest 7.0s I've seen and the X-Men 48 is no slouch either.

I'm going to sell or trade the ASM 67 while the X-Men 48 is a keeper.

I was joking.

Yes, I've been searching for a nice looking, reasonably affordable copy for a while. I'll trip over a copy one of these days.

Yeah, I thought so. There has to be more raw high grade copies out there in the wild to trip over.

Disappointing. I figured a 4.0

Another grade I thought would be higher.

Bad picture but double signed by Eastman and laird in 90. Signed on interior.

And my favorite Cap cover
