CBCS Only Slabs You Just Got Back #217617
I don't believe this....and I know you don't care that I don't believe this. | GAC private msg quote post Address this user
Depending on how big the big books we're talking about...all big books should be slabbed regardless of grade in my opinion. When I see unslabbed big books for sale, I assume it's unslabbed for a reason. I believe they're restored/conserved.

Press everything. There's no reason not to do it. The fee is nominal compared to the benefits. I have personally bought a 7.5 and turned it into a 9.8 with a press and resub. Best $10 I've ever spent on a comic book. I will never press screen another book. That was a waste of $10 that could have been applied to the press job the book ended up getting any way. |

Well, I've found that CBCS is about as consistent as you'll ever get out of a bunch of humans. And grade screening is your friend. It protects you from those sudden unexpected surprises. It's the maxi-pad of third party grading. |

I asked how much to get a book pressed and I was quoted $40 at the CBCS booth. Thought it was way expensive to pay $40 to press a book that cost me $30 and have it graded on top of that. Makes the graded book $100 all in. |

You were either told the wrong price or you have a book worth thousands. Regardless, code word sales are your friend. What book is it? |

Used the last discount for some VSP books. These are all artist I grew up following and are going straight into the PC. Really enjoy the early signature on this one, before it became a work of art itself. I had this at a 9.0-9.2 so happy with the results. Overshot this one a little at a 9.0-9.2 also. Gotta love the yellow cover and yellow label. Had this one right on at a 9.2, and very excited to have a Joe Kubert signature. Decided to send this one in even though it failed the initial online Beckett authentication check. Nailed the grade, but never thought to check for restoration. Regardless, glad to have the signature verified especially with the 'remark' added. This one is my favorite of the submission! I've wanted a good Frazetta signature for a while and this one looked legit and very pronounced. The black cover was tough to gauge from pictures online, but I was still hoping for an 8.0. I'm not mad at it though. |

The Wolverine 55s from the latest submission to come back. Again, I thought they were just junk. I submitted them on a whim. |

The last four books from the latest submission to be returned. The "worst" book of the bunch. Graded a 9.4 due to a bottom right corner crease that I would swear is part of the art. Younger eyes than mine must have been looking at it. Holding my breath for a Speedball movie. Another surprise. Thrown in the submission to make it 31 books since the submission date was 8/31. Until the next batch gets delivered... |

My first submission back since banana-gate. Grades for Batman 655 and DC Comics Presents were right in line with what I expected. Was hoping to keep the 9.8 for Wolverine 1 which was a bent banana, but, honestly, I didn't expect a 9.8 when I sent it in to the other guys in the first place. |

Something has changed!!! I received my order back with no FedEx extortion fees!!! (which I don't get with the other guys) 3 books....last one and lowest graded is the one I think I like the best!!! still looks better than a 6.0 to me - just a great cover and the interior is good too - pretty sure I have a reprint this one folks is 1 of only 2 graded Canadian copies of this book (1 at CGC at 5.0 and this one at CBCS!!!) scratches my itch for EC space comics and as a bonus a bit of Canadiana!! even the plain jane version of this book is not that common - don't remember when I got this but super happy to have it back home!!! |

Quote:Originally Posted by drmccoy74 The grading for the three books I posted previously were bang on, and I've found when it came to CBCS they were the most consistent (and in the rare case I was off it was because they graded a little harder/conservatively than I did, which I prefer they do rather then get loose with grades). There is no need to 'press everything', as that can run up your costs pretty quickly and slow down your own submissions considerably. |

Submitted at NYCC and came back two days ago, but finally picked it up this morning. First new CBCS slab, my favorite behind the original slab design. The case is stellar. |
