CBCS Only Slabs You Just Got Back #217617

Collector mbarb private msg quote post Address this user
Mix of Bronze, Copper, and Modern Age comics that I just received back from CBCS last Saturday. This completes the slabbing of my Wolverine Limited Series copies from 1982 (I previously posted two copies of issue #1). I have also added another Dave Stevens favorite to my collection: Jonny Quest #5. Front and back covers of Just Imagine Stan Lee's Wonder Woman, from 2001, are included to showcase their verified signatures (Jim Lee and Adam Hughes). Happy with most of the grades.

These cases and labels are really nice. I was meh, on the whole thing but Ive been proven wrong.

I really made a bone head decision on this one. I knew it could use another press but I ran out of time. Im sure I cost myself a 9.0.

Check out the label on Swampy #5, it's awesome....

I got this 30 years ago. Matt Groening and the Bongo crew were signing, and even though it was only supposed to be like a 1-hour signing, they made sure that everyone in line got taken care of. It’s crazy that this was so long ago that the Simpsons were only celebrating their 5th anniversary

I just got these back on Saturday although they had been sitting at CBCS waiting to be picked up for a month or so.

The Shocking Mystery Cases #56 is a double cover (and what a cover it is!!).

The two Four Color #1173 books are pence copies of the very first Twilight Zone book. These appear to be 2 of the only 3 that have ever been graded by either CGC or CBCS. I'm really happy to have these.

As for the 70s horror, these were all bought 30+ years ago. I have to say that, even though I never graded these myself (I just bought them because they looked cool, read them and put them away), I was surprised with some of the low grades received. I'm not saying that they were overgraded. However, I do need to look at the grader's notes and see how some of the lower grades were determined. Even those with lower grades present well, though.

WonderCon books arrived!

I really like the Rogue commission but I was a bit bummed because I saw the artist at artist’s alley and I really wanted her to do a Silk Spectre on a yellow Doomsday Clock or Rorschach blank but I had left the book at home thinking I wouldn’t need it

My girlfriend’s family joined us for one day at WonderCon. Her father had written the Star Trek comic and happened to find a copy at one of the vendors and gave it to me as a gift. Since CBCS was there, I thought, why not have him sign it? Apparently this was one of the last Star Trek books DC printed with the license so the print run was rather low

My 1st batch with the new labels; they look great! CBCS Pressing did top notch work.
There’s 2 more books I didn’t share, as their labels got mixed up, hopefully that gets resolved quickly.

Just got a 17 book submission back. Of course you always want everything to be 9.8, but alas…
Was a little sad about a couple on the downside, but was surprised on the upside by even more.
Happy to have these back.

Just got these back from 3 different submissions. Less than enthused about the grade on Patient Number 9, but it did get handled by too many people at the Todd Mcfarlane signing at Phoenix Fan Fusion this year.

When I got back from HeroesCon, these were waiting for me:

I sent two versions of this book in because Vernestra Rwoh was making her appearance in the Acolyte. Too bad the show is so bad! I guess CBCS decided not to get into the "1st" appearance debate.

The next two I got signed as part of Scott Snyder's Black Jacket. I wasn't expecting the grades to be that low but they definitely aren't 9.8's.

I bought this book months ago because it had Perez's autograph. I expected a 8.5 and I'm super happy it was. All I need now is Marv Wolfman to sign it.

Just got these back, but they were submitted at MegaCon 2022. The WW #750 Campbell’s are all double signed by both Campbell and Sabine Rich.

Due to a myriad of health issues, it took me that long to pay the $2300 invoice.
