CBCS Only Slabs You Just Got Back #217617

I'd like to say I still turned out alright, but that would be a lie. flanders private msg quote post Address this user
@00slim great books and your mom has great taste in movies. I was randomly in the same hole in the wall restaurant as Uncle Rico once.

Today's FEDEX delivery

I don't think anyone is getting Dave Cockrum autographs anytime soon, I'd say.
And John Byrne rarely attends anything.
All autographs obtained by me.
Grades aren't the highest, but having these autos on these books is not common.

@Nuffsaid111 Nice books!!! I'm guessing that you took pics of the Sigs before sending them in.
I have a Uncanny X-men #58 signed by Neal Adams on the cover and Stan Lee on the 1st page in a CGC case (5.0). Thinking of cracking it and snapping a pic of Stan's sig and then sending the book to CBCS for VSP.

@Dalkiel Yepper... most certainly. I make a paper printout of the signature page and insert the paper copy behind the slab.

Just got this back today; since our local con got Femi Taylor to appear this year, *and* it's the 40th anniversary of RotJ (wow, we're getting old), *and* for as many prints I have bought from Gregbo I had not had a commission by him, I asked him to do a cover of Oola *and* I got Femi to sign it (she and her husband are lovely people, by the way).

Stoked at how it all came out. Gregbo is going to use this art for his Star Wars Day print this year as well, probably.

Submitted in Nov 2021 but it went to CFP for pressing first. So it took.a while. I think I picked these up in Feb, but just got around to taking pics. I disagree with a few of the grades but I'm pleased overall.

Huge thanks to Cynthia for helping get this book back! She had the book pressed and regraded.

The book did drop in grade as I expected but they did toss in a $75 credit (they did give me an option for a $60 refund)

Looks like there was a major heat seal failure on the seal above the book which allowed the book to shift in transit and damage the top-left front corner. Damage which isn’t mentioned in the notes. Not sure it still qualifies as even a 9.2 😕

Oh, and there’s a bit of plastic in the back as well.

I had it submitted through Clan McDonald since they did some of the signature witnessing so I’ve reached out to them to see how they would like to handle the issue since it was submitted under their account.

I think this just about clears up the entire CBCS backlog for the last year for me.
Maybe 1 more order outstanding from not long ago.
Great job folks - eliminating the backlog.

These were obtained today in 2 separate FEDEX shipments.
Thor movie cover - signed Hemsworth
She-Hulk 1 - signed John Byrne
Sandman 1 - signed Neil Gaiman & Sam Keith
New Teen Titans 2 - signed Marv Wolfman
New Teen Titans 2 - signed Wolfman & George Perez
Swamp Thing 37 - signed Totleben and Rick Veitch

Well I accurately guessed 9/10 of the grades. There was one big surprise and a pleasant one at that, you can probably tell which one.

Most of these were cover buys but there was one special one in the mix. About 2 weeks before my new baby boy was born late last June a comic came out in early June called "Ballad of Ronan". Well it just so happens that my wife and I had chosen Ronan for our boy's name months in advance already. So when I saw this comic come out just before my wife was due I knew I had to get it (it even has a baby on the cover). I picked up 2 copies of #1 and sent the best one in for grading, which is in this submission. I kept the other copy and am also buying the other 5 issues in the series as they come out so that I can read them to my boy once he's old enough and have 1 (the graded one) kept in pristine condition to give to him as a keepsake when he graduates high school.

After submitting this Star Trek comic in July, Brent Spiner finally made one of the signings he was scheduled for and I got this back today.

Yesterday I got these other three back, after CBCS received them on March 30th (express/signature verification).

Really anxious to see the grader notes on this one...

About what I expected:

Seems a little strict for a single (very slight) color break on the spine:

Glad the signature could be verified:
