Signature Verification questions...17600

Forum Crier OGJackster private msg quote post Address this user
I have a couple of questions here.

1. Are there any of these that you would NOT send in to get pressed, signature verified and slabbed/re-slabbed?
and
2. For the slabbed ones, I don't crack open the slabs and let them do that, correct?

I take it the x-men signed by stan lee is not authenticated? Id consider getting that regraded and authenticated. id check to see if the jurassic park and venom can be graded without authentication since it has a coa

Coa are not used in Determining authenticity by cbcs

All of the non-slabbed books have COA's but, they don't matter if I get them graded without the verification.

Cbcs does not accept COAs, they come back in a bag. I would get them pressed by an outside service to help expedite the books coming back. I use a guy on IG cm_comic_pressing he's on the west coast, he's been doing my for a while now. There's a few guys on here who used his service after my recommendation.
That will definitely cut down time. Also don't be afraid to grade bump, reach out to him with pics and he will tell you if anything will help. lastly, CBCS uses a verification method … assuming a program to verify. I'm wondering there's a blue label on that XMEN since CGC won't verify and it would be considered a green label unless they use a gold label?

CoA's prove nothing, unfortunately, because anyone with the skills can forge one.

Those are Some Nice Books and I would be inclined to get all of them verified. Books that are already slabbed should be left in the slabs because they give that extra bit of protection when shipping. For me, I would definitely leave them slabbed because I'd rather have the pros crack them out than me.

I think you have option of blue label if signature is on the cover if you take the grade hit. That book might grade higher assuming thats what the submitter did and tbe book checks out with cbcs.

Soooo here is my take on this the grading with a coa and a VSP is still for some dumb reason regarded as not worth as much so if your goal is to sell them then yeah you might get a bit more but is it worth the time and effort? Because the coa is awsome but it doesn't mean it isn't fake in some people's minds. The already graded ones with Stan Lee for sure as there is no way to get a witnessed signature anymore and I would love to have one person ally but again a VSP vs a witness the value could be way different

I've sold a few books that had verified signatures and few with witnessed signatures and I didn't get shafted for the verified signatures vs. witnessed. People just want to see that gold label that assures them the signature is legit, one way or another. VSP vs. witnessed may cut down on the customer base because I'm sure there are a few snobs out there who get fussy, but I've never had a problem getting a nice price for a desirable book with a desirable verified signature.

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
1 - I would prioritize the others over the Campbell books, if prioritizing is needed, but if you want them graded at some point might as well send them.

2 - yes, they'll crack them for you. If you feel like you can safely crack them yourself though, you can take pictures of the interior signatures.

Forgot about that part! This is exactly right. I'd seriously consider getting photos of those interior signatures.

@Byrdibyrd I have for sure seen the same book same grade sell for cheaper with a vsp vs a witness but I agree the gold label is what most people want to see lol and to me it doesn't matter nearly as much as I have a few books signed thst I'm sending for VSP because I don't have anyone to witness around here for cbcs or cgc that I am aware of

I have no doubt you're correct and there have been sales where witnessed signatures went for more, but I wonder how much of that might have been attributed to the old red label for VSP that CBCS no longer uses? Also, there used to be a shocking amount of misinformation, generally spread by uninformed fans of CGC, that CBCS just slabs any book and claims the signature is legit as long as the person making the submission says so. That's actually a bald-faced lie, but it was pretty attached to the red label, and now that the red label is gone (I have one book with that label that I want re-slabbed) I wonder if folks are more willing to accept VSP.

I wouldn't doubt that people would be more willing to grt the gold label VSP and yeah that is a lie and a half I have seen books come back as not verified from some shops collection here in my town

No, I haven't and I think I should have. So 714 business days plus 115 (or so) for holidays and weekends, were looking at around 2.27 years to get a book back. I think I'll hold off on sending any books in for now. I really had no idea

I'd get them all cracked, pressed (by a third party presser), and verified. Those signatures would be amazing to have verified.

also - wont the comic in those sealed bags be removed from the bags for grading purposes. i would suspect the coa that came with that book would be returned separately. (ive not seen a graded book get slabbed WITH the coa, although that doesnt mean it hasnt happened).

CBCS has always returned the COAs (cards, posters, etc.) to me whenever I've had them remove a book from a polybag. No problem.
