Went up to Maine with some friends and fished two ponds last weekend. Here’s the place we rented on Maranacook Lake. We fished on China Lake the first day.

We actually liked China Lake more, but there were no rentals available (and we booked several months ago). We also found out that there was a large two-day bass tournament on China Lake that weekend. We caught some fish, drank too much, and had a good time.

One of my biggest fish:

Fishing has been slow, we only caught a couple each last week. It’s been in the 30’s in the morning a few times this week.

I caught this one on the North Carolina coast last week. Just off the beach of Oak Island. My first citation red drum.

Went out on Narragansett Bay in my buddy’s 22-footer today for some Tautog/Blackfish. We had our 10-fish limit before 9:30 AM.

I also managed to catch the smallest fish in the Bay.

One of the biggest ones.

The weather the last few days has been in the mid- to upper 70’s, so I just had to talk two of my buddies to get out fishing today. We went to Lake Sabbathia, a 250-acre pond in Taunton, MA. The water level was way down (about 2.5-3 feet lower than usual) and the wind was pretty strong, but we managed to catch a few nice largemouth bass.

Got out for a few hours yesterday in Mike’s little boat. It was partly cloudy, temperatures in the mid-50’s, and some wind. We did better than I thought we would, caught 9 largemouth bass and 4 chain pickerel between us. Nothing big, but it was a good trip for this time of year.

Forgot to post this. Caught this red drum back in late September off the North Carolina coast. My first red drum citation. We were about 300 yards off the beach near Oak Island N.C

Toronto Boat Show today!
second last day of the event, North Americas largest indoor boat show!!

With an indoor lake!!!
Watched SUP races and demos of gas and electric powered boards and such..good fun!
Even a cooking demo with Chef Benny??
He made a nice 1 pan shoreside bacon, potato and leek chowder with fish...very tasty...apparently tasty even if fishing was unsuccessful!

My big piece of kit purchase was a tiller tamer/auto helm

This thing has far more capabilities than I have equipment.
A six pin hookup so it could interface with equipment I'll never own!!
I only need two of the pins for power!! Saved about $100 from any prices I saw on-line

Also had some small purchases. New sailing gloves and some specialized epoxy for a special fix I'll attempt when the weather warms!

Some pics from yesterday’s ice fishing trip. I think we ended up catching 6 bass and a few yellow perch and pickerel. There was 9.5 to 11.5 inches of ice - there hasn’t been that much ice here in over a decade or two!

Pretty cold this morning when we got on the ice (about 12 degrees F, or -11 degrees C). The fishing was slow, with only about a dozen or so flags between 4 guys. All told, I believe we tallied 1 bass, 4 or 5 yellow perch, and one pickerel.
