I grew up with cats. I finally got the odie of real life dogs later in my childhood. I’ve seen some things; terrible things…😭

I reluctantly adopted a yorkie with my wife shortly after we were married. Daisy was the best dog ever who got lonely and I one again reluctantly adopted the ugliest yorkie puppy you’ve ever seen! He turned out pretty good. I miss them both. Daisy was about 17 and Dexter was about 11 when passing from carcinoma.

Sorry to bum the thread.

The resident old man of the house (not me) has taken to laying on the floor of our bedroom because he's getting older and it probably hurts to jump up on the bed. Even if we pick him up and put him on the bed, he gets down and lays on the floor by my side of our bed. Crazy, old cat.

I haven’t shown any photos of our other tuxedo, Ms. Felix, because she’s always sleeping in hidden spots. So the wife and I decided to get her out of hiding with a new bed on the kitchen floor. She loves it!!

The other photo wouldn’t load for some reason. 🙁🙁

So it's that time of year...allergies!!!

The wind has been blowing a lot here in Colorado. First my wife was sick, then me. Then our old cat Tigger got sick, but he's getting better.

Now, it's Ms. Felix. My wife is out of town, and I can't get a vet appointment until freaking April!!!! It's not an emergency either...yet. Our local emergency clinic has crappy staff. Unreal that our own vet can't keep a full staff running.

So here I am at home all week, by myself, worrying about Momma's cat. She's all stuffed up, but still wants to be held and petted. The humidifier is all I can do...everything else I try stresses her out. Poor cat. She's eating a bit, and drinking water. It's just so damn dry here, and windy, it will take awhile for her to get over this. Momma will be home on Friday.

There she is in the chair, looking miserable. I give my wife a hard time for being a helicopter mom...always hovering. Now I'm doing it

Can the vet not recommend a pet dosage over the counter allergy med such as Benadryl?

I'm sure they "can", but the vets I'm familiar with are all about the dinero.

You would think, but I talked to a front desk girl hours ago who said she’d have someone from the vet team call me back. That didn’t happen. So I put kitter into the bathroom after running a hot shower. We hung out together in the ‘sauna’ for a bit. It seemed to help some. She didn’t freak out this time. 🤣🤣

Our vet has incompetent people working there I guess. My wife usually deals with them because she knows I have no patience with incompetence. She’ll be home tomorrow.

@HeinzDad It is all about the money these days. Our vet raised prices the past few years because there are too many irresponsible pet owners these days. Decent pet parents like us are getting shafted. 🤨🤨

It's the same with dentists I've visited lately. The 1st one said I had 11 cavities, the 2nd one said I had one. Always get a 2nd opinion and even a 3rd if necessary.

I'm lucky on that front. I'd kiss my dentist's ass if he asked me.

How does a dentist mis diagnose 10 cavities?

@flanders @HeinzDad @Bronte
As a retired dental assistant, I can go into it a bit on the dentistry. Without getting a look at x-rays, of course, there's no telling, but some dentists who are keen on replacing any amalgam restorations (metal fillings) a patient may have, will sometimes count every stain around the margin of the amalgam and call it decay (a 'cavity') so that the patient will agree to replace the amalgam with a non-metal filling material. The problem with making a judgment on whether the dentist is competent or not - or just greedy - is that there's no guarantee that the dentist isn't correct. Because it's impossible to get proper x-rays all the way around the amalgam (amalgam is radiopaque - shows up as white), it's not outside the realm of possibility that stains around the margin of the filling might really indicate decay. It's a tough situation with no easy answer, unfortunately.
