The Autographed Silver Surfer's That Are Decidedly Not For Sale Thread17372

Hmm... Moderated again! figment private msg quote post Address this user
I had to dig out the box with autographed books to add one recently, and decided to take a few pictures for insurance records. Then it occurred to me, maybe you lot might enjoy them too.

Starting with the obvious, my Silver Surfer #4, I was NOT happy when Beckett "could not verify" the signature. But it is what is, and having personally presented it to the man, and having watched him sign it, I'm not worried about the authenticity.

The Defenders #6 came from Comiclink before prices got stupid.

I saw this Tomb of Dracula #50 on eBay back in 2018. I imagine the seller is now regretting that decision.

Anybody remember America Online? At one time, if you were polite and civil, you could actually talk to John Byrne there. I asked if I could send him some stuff to be autographed, offering of course to pay for shipping in both directions. He was gracious enough to agree and this Silver Surfer #1 is one of the items I sent.

This Silver Surfer #1 is the one I just got back from the other guys signature event. Note I will not be duplicating this post there because they don't allow CBCS slab images. Their loss.

These next ones are the result of several visits to Marshall Rogers booth at the Dallas Fantasy Fair in 1990. A nicer man you'll not meet, gone WAY too soon. Silver Surfer #1-7

And then there's this one. An anomaly at a grade of 4.5, but you gotta understand that this was the FIRST comic I purchased as an adult. This Silver Surfer #6 is that proverbial "first domino" that got me back into comic books. I read it MANY times!

Nearing the end now, here's a couple more that Beckett decided were unverifiable, at least Stan's signatures anyway. Again, having witnessed the signatures personally I'm not concerned as to authenticity. I love this limited series!

And finally, I bought this Fantastic Four Annual #5 back in 2013. It's last on the list because the Surfer's not on the cover. He's in there, just not on the cover.

Have I told you about the time I dropped off 3,000 comics at SDCC? Scifinator private msg quote post Address this user
That’s a lot of Gold above the Silver Surfer!

Congrats!

On the 1982 Volume 2 one shot, i have lobbied for a dual John Byrne & Joe Satriani signing event. That event I would definitely do. My favorite comics creator, my favorite musician, signing my favorite comic of my favorite comic character.

Marshall Rogers and Moebius are NOT easy autographs to have in one's collection. Incredibly impressive!
I know folks get all googly eyed with Stan's autograph but fact is he signed hundreds of thousands of books - literally.

But when you see the deceased legends of the industry (pre- grading nuttiness) sign books - it's wonderful to see. (like how many comic peeps have Moebius autographs?)
